Antigua and Barbuda Government Explores Strategies Amid CIP Threats

Mounting international pressure, particularly from the EU and UK, has cast doubt on the future of the Citizenship by Investment Programmes (CIP) in several Caribbean countries.

Actions taken by the UK against Dominica’s visa-free access have raised concerns that other nations could face similar consequences.

Antigua and Barbuda’s government is preparing to safeguard its economy and revenue streams by exploring alternative measures, including improving tax collection.

Minister Melford Nicholas highlighted the importance of tax revenue in supporting the country’s development.

Additionally, the government aims to enhance economic resilience through diversification in sectors such as logistics, education, and utilities management, with a focus on upgrading the cargo port for potential transshipment capabilities.

  1. Simply remove the use of third partie vetting procedures for CIP applications and the European Union and the UK might change their minds about introducing Visas to Antiguans to visit them.

You stubborn, obdurate and foolish Prime Minister.

YOUR STUBBORNNESS IS DESTROYING AND DESTABILISING ANTIGUA!

    • At present Antigua & Barbuda has 150 Visa free destinations, hopefully this doesn’t drastically change come December 2023 by the EU and the United Kingdom.

  2. The the importance of tax revenue in supporting the country’s development is higher taxes on the poor and disenfranchised while the Nepo Babies get duty free tax concessions
The only revenue stream is to pilfer and squander the soak the poor for more.

    • Maria Browne is a Nepo Baby, you only have to look into how she was fast-tracked to high office and understand why too many like her are totally not fit for purpose.

The other Nepo Baby Ms Katrina Yearwood who is also not fit for purpose, and is holding a top position in the Immigration Department, and look at the mess that’s in at present.

I bet there’s a lot more who have been given a leg up on the political, corporate and financial ladder that we don’t know of at present, but wait until their mommy’s and daddy’s retire …

  3. How does these clowns get away with these hair brain ideas before the public?
This is an admittance that the economic power house is a pauper without the race to the bottom CIP program.
“Logistics” seriously “Logistics?” You can’t be serious. Obviously who ever came up with that one has no clue what is logistic.
“Education”? I thought this was about alternative sources of revenue? Explain that one. Remember it’s about finding revenue sources to replace CIP
Now “Utilities Management” Nice try.. Is this some scheme to get APC to hand over the generating plants decommission them and we go solar power and wind power?
“Upgrading the cargo port for potential transshipment capabilities. So it was just announce we are not servicing the debt in the Port with the Chinese. The Saint Johns port is not generating enough income to service the debt
