Antigua and Barbuda Gears Up for National Literacy Festival
The Ministry of Education is proud to announce the upcoming National Literacy Festival, which will take place on March 6th and 7th in secondary and primary schools across Antigua and Barbuda.
This year’s theme, “Promoting Responsible Expression: Literacy for Integrity, Empathy, and Respect,” underscores the vital role of literacy in shaping individuals who can contribute positively to society and advance the ideals of equity, inclusivity and accessibility as expressed in the Ministry of Education’s Sector Plan.
The festival, aimed at engaging students, teachers, parents, and the wider community, will feature a range of activities, including storytelling, drama, essay competitions, poetry readings, spoken word presentations, and panel discussions at the schools.
Education Officer responsible for Language Arts at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Desryn Collins, underscores the importance of the festival in highlighting the role literacy plays in academic success, overall personal wellbeing, national development, and social harmony.
The Ministry of Education urges all citizens to participate actively. For more information on festival activities, contact the Ministry of Education or the school you would like to support.
