Alex Michelin, the son of Elizabeth Minors of Sunseakers and Andrew Michelin of Caribbean Beach Cottages is making waves in the international real estate market with two major redevelopment projects in London’s Bayswater district.

Michelin, whose mother Elizabeth Minors is well-known for her work with Sunseakers in Antigua and Barbuda, is continuing a family tradition of excellence in hospitality and development. While his father Andrew Michelin’s work is centered around the Caribbean’s tourism sector, Alex has taken the family’s passion for transformative projects to a global stage, reshaping urban areas in one of the world’s largest cities.

As the co-founder of the luxury development firm Finchatton, Michelin has become a key figure in transforming this historic London neighborhood through visionary projects—The William and The Whiteley.

The £400 million development known as The William is a six-storey, mixed-use project on Queensway. Michelin is working closely with Foster + Partners, one of the world’s most respected architecture firms, to create a stunning development that will include luxury residences, office spaces, and prime retail outlets. The William replaces an outdated retail parade but will integrate essential services such as a post office, ensuring the development maintains a community focus. Michelin’s commitment to thoughtful urban planning reflects his desire to balance modern design with local needs.

Just across the street, Michelin is also leading the £1.5 billion redevelopment of The Whiteley, a famous London landmark. Formerly a bustling shopping center, The Whiteley is being reimagined into a mixed-use space with 139 luxury apartments, high-end stores, restaurants, and the UK’s first Six Senses hotel—a world-renowned wellness brand. To date, over £550 million worth of residences have been sold, demonstrating the high demand for Michelin’s innovative projects. The regeneration of the entire Bayswater area, valued at £3 billion, is expected to transform the neighborhood into a vibrant destination similar to London’s thriving King’s Cross.

After nearly two decades of success with Finchatton, Michelin launched his new company, Valouran, in 2023. Valouran focuses on large-scale, mixed-use developments with an emphasis on “place-making”—creating spaces that foster community and sustainability. His goal is to enhance entire neighborhoods with carefully planned architecture that improves the quality of life for residents.

Despite challenges from London’s lengthy planning processes, Michelin remains optimistic about the future. His developments in Bayswater are progressing rapidly, with The William and The Whiteley setting new standards for luxury living and community-driven design.

As he approaches his 50th birthday, Alex Michelin’s impact on the global real estate scene continues to grow, drawing on both his heritage in Antigua and Barbuda and his forward-thinking approach to urban development. Through his vision and leadership, the future of Bayswater is brighter than ever.

  1. You may call him Antiguan but that’s not what applies here, his white privilege works for him in Antigua to London or all over the world for that matter, all the tax concessions in antigua they got allowed them to accrue enough wealth to invest in their mother country, all the concessions to PLH And whoever white groups where their hotel bookings are paid abroad give them 99% of the pie, antigua get less than 1% share between pittance salaries and government tax.

A rare investment opportunity totalling $130,000.00 Eastern Caribbean dollars will allow interested persons to be part of the evolution of two of Antigua’s most popular accommodations. COCOS Hotel and the Keyonna Beach Resort will be gain thirty new cottages as part of an expansion project to begin in 2021. Ten cottages will be allotted to COCOS Hotel while the other twenty will be to Keyonna Beach Resort.

I mean with a son that is able to develop such large scale developments, you wonder why daddy had to come to the Antigua public to try and get them to invest in his development.
This to me doesn’t sound right. Buit then again who am I. Just a person thinking outside the box.
