Antigua and Barbuda drops mask mandate from today

Antigua and Barbuda has dropped its mask mandate which has been in place since 2020. It was eliminated today, Wednesday 16 March 2022.

The decision to make mask-wearing optional was taken during a meeting of cabinet after a presentation by Health Minister Sir Molwyn Joseph and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Rhonda Sealey-Thomas.

A note from the cabinet said Sealey-Thomas and her team proposed that face masks be worn by workers indoors where workers come into contact with strangers.

In outdoor places spaces, it is recommended that people wear masks when they are in crowds.

Antigua and Barbuda is the first member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to make mask-wearing optional.

Meanwhile, Antigua and Barbuda has one of the highest COVID-19 vaccine penetration rates in CARICOM at 62 per cent of its eligible population.

The government has therefore encouraged islanders to become vaccinated to meet the goal of having a vaccination rate of 70 per cent by June 1.

Hurst said the government is confident of meeting this goal, which requires a further 10,000 people to be vaccinated, as proof of vaccination is a requirement for persons to take part in some carnival activities.

  1. You don’t have real leaders in Antigua

They just adopt whatever nonsensical policies the US does

And the US government appears to be trying to kill as many people as possible with the suppression of therapeutics and failure to implement or recommend any effective mitigation strategies

    • Not just the US of A ‘@ Pure’, but the UK as well. It’s so sad to witness how Caribbean countries have to still follow whatever their colonial masters do or say. SICKENING!

  2. What do you mean by “effective mitigation strategies” ?
    Are you referring to MASKS?
Masks are NOT effective. If you think they are, then show us a peer reviewed scientist study that shows that result.
CDC statements don’t count – they are proven liars.

    • Well proven liars. Even if, masks did make a marginal difference, they still have blood on their hands for blocking access to good treatments. Imagine, these people used a retracted paper as the basis for revoking the emergency use authorization for HydroxyChloroquine. I hope everyone is reading the data that FDA/Pfizer was forced to release…a few decades earlier than they wanted to.

      • I agree that therapeutics should never have been withheld. That was a crime against humanity and people will need to be brought to justice for that. The hangman should be ready for hoard of Doctors, nurses, CEO’s Government officials etc. that acted criminally these past two years.

      • You are a deluded. Covid was real but had a 99.97 survival rate before the jabs were inflicted on us. We have been played by US, EU and UK big pharma who bought their respective governments, and China who control the WHO. The major Western governments bought the media and medical establishment with floods of money, and the threat of sanctions, so administer dangerous experimental jabs which don’t work. Effective therapeutics were demonised and withheld because they are cheap. The Antigua government played along with this nonsense right up to the point of excluding its own nationals from entering the country, while foreign tourists were allowed to come in and spread the virus. The local public health establishment are incompetent and so followed the herd and the tourism industry demands, not the science. They ought to be fired. We have been lied to and robbed

      • Here we go again, the closet bully lunatic is on the loose again. Can’t go for more than one day without attacking Angel, eh? We know you wrote the comment above the one I’m replying to also. What is it that’s lacking in your life that makes you so bitter? Oh wait, I forgot, you’re just bat-shit CRAZZZZZZY. 😜🤪🤪😜🤪😜
Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Fluvoxamine add Klonopin.
