Antigua and Barbuda Coast Guard Refutes Claims of Missing Vincentian Vessel Found in Antigua

The Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard has clarified that reports claiming a missing Vincentian vessel was found in Antigua are untrue.

A flyer circulating online details the missing vessel, MV Guidance II, which was last seen in Canouan Island Harbour, St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The 150-foot white boat has been missing since July 1, when Hurricane Beryl struck St Vincent.

An online post from someone claiming to be a Vincentian national suggested that the vessel was found in Antigua, but this claim remains unverified. The poster was seeking confirmation of the information.

Vaughn Simon of the Defence Force reportedly told Observer Media that searches have confirmed the vessel is not in Antigua, and there have been no local sightings of the boat.

However, there is a possibility it was spotted near St Lucia. Vincentian police have initiated investigations into the vessel’s disappearance, which is believed to have a crew of five led by Captain Maxwell Burke.

The boat’s communication and GPS systems are likely damaged, and St Vincent police are appealing for any information that could lead to the safe recovery of the vessel and its crew. Anyone with information is urged to contact the SVG Coast Guard at (784) 457-4578.
