  1. Congratulations 🎊 yet another Antiguan hitting the 100 year mark, proving that eating correctly and conducting your life in a spiritual manner pays dividends.

I bet Almelda King remembers the time when the country was well governed by Vere ‘Papa’ Cornwall Bird.

    Happy birthday Mrs King …🎂

  2. ONE THOUGHT OR TWO
Congratulations on your 100 years of excellence!
Respect and honor Mrs. Almeda King, SGOE (Senior Grandparent Order of Excellence)!

Our venerable, noble, native Centenarians, descendants of our heroic enslaved African ancestors had few and no choices within the economic and education systems of colonialism and slavery to earn a living: “Washing, cleaning, working in the canefield and picking cotton.”
Their labor produced the economic wealth and cultural benefits of our colonizers.
Our Centenarians survived by practicing the fundamental economic principle: “Eat a little, save a little, spend a little.”
And spiritually, they internalized hope of a better life, faith, through religion.

“A people without knowledge of their past history, origin and culture Is like a tree without roots.
So our Centenarians ask our youths/ students: “What’s in your hand?” And they answer ‘cell phone’! smartphone, iPhone, tablet – a computer! that’s a ‘Walking University’! There’s no admission of guns, items used to harm, terrorize others and destroy themselves in the process!
Think about this: Our youths are leaving our Public Schools after eleven (11) years of instructional education without knowledge and skills to earn a living and start businesses.
Our education system isn’t working! It’s time for a radical change!
Our education system MUST PRIORITIZE STEM, the acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics + creative Arts, Pre-K to Tertiary, in the curriculum of EVERY PUBLIC SCHOOL and INSTITUTION year-round, in-school, extra-curricular programs (after school activities) and summer! Skills training MUST be included in our Public Schools’ curriculum!
With this education, our youths will be equipped to unlock the genius to create, innovate, produce and distribute the goods and services we need for ourselves and the World. That MUST HAPPEN to achieve our economic and social development. If not, we face the horrible economic and social consequences from the known risks of creating a permanent underclass of youths , a ‘low class’ without knowledge and skills for college, career and life. They will be financially broke and broken as humans, arrogantly verbally, and in other ways, abused.

Let us interact with humility, grace, good intentions! Be nice to each other!

Save our Humanity, Save our Youths, Save our Environment, Save our Soil!!!

    Respect

  3. I say amen to that. The education system needs to go back to the days of Reuben Harris, who was a very good education minister. Our youths needs strong motivation and empowerment first of all from the home and a strong spiritual background in the home . If every home would look up to Jesus and set their priorities in order, the world would be a blessed better place. .
