Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne announced the anticipation of securing US$5 million in funding for the upcoming 4th United Nations Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Conference.
The conference is scheduled to take place from May 27 to 30, 2024, at the American University of Antigua.
Themed “Charting the course toward resilient prosperity,” the conference is set to be the largest of its kind in the Caribbean, drawing leaders from 193 UN Member States.
The expected funding, currently under discussion with friendly nations, is seen as crucial for the successful execution of the event.
The anticipated US$5 million funding, if realized, will provide a solid financial foundation for the conference, emphasizing the international community’s potential support for Antigua and Barbuda in addressing global challenges, particularly those related to climate change and post-COVID-19 recovery.
In addition to the funding discussions, a Recruitment Drive for 200 volunteers has been initiated to contribute to the smooth organization of the conference. T
