Antigua to Host JCI Area Conference in 2026

Antigua and Barbuda will host the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Area Conference for South America and the Caribbean in 2026, marking the first time the event will return to the Caribbean since 1974.

The announcement was made by Senator Shenella Govia during the Senate debate on the 2025 budget.

Govia, who is a member of JCI, highlighted the achievement as a sign of growing international confidence in the country.

“That is the type of confidence that organisations have placed in this government. Because we are a can-do government. We don’t just talk the talk; we walk the walk,” she said.

Senator Govia also pointed to Antigua’s increasing role as a hub for international events, noting the rising interest from various sectors.

“Antigua is the hub for everything—conferences, sports, so many churches are hosting international conferences here,” she said.

She added that the growing demand for events would soon require more hotels and conference facilities.

“Soon from now, we are going to require more hotels and more conference facilities because everybody is interested,” Govia stated.

The JCI Area Conference is expected to attract delegates from across the region and beyond, further enhancing Antigua and Barbuda’s reputation as a preferred destination for global events.
