Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Trade, the Honourable E.P. Chet Greene and Rwanda’s Foreign Minister, the Honourable Dr Vincent Biruta, have signed an Air Services Agreement on behalf of their respective governments.

According to Foreign Minister Greene, the purpose of the agreement is to allow for the operating of international service routes and to regulate the air transport of passengers between both countries.

It will enable the provision of direct flight services between Rwanda and Antigua and Barbuda and will also enable both countries to sell and market international air services either directly or through agents of designated airlines.

Minister Greene in his remarks at the signing ceremony stated that Antigua and Barbuda is an ideal geographic location in the Caribbean to serve as a logistics and transport hub into the region for Rwanda.

He stressed the importance of Antigua and Barbuda, and other Caribbean countries, strengthening ties with Rwanda and the wider African continent.

The Ministers discussed other areas for potential expansion to include trade and hospitality and committed to making this Agreement a functional one.

Minister Greene was accompanied by High Commissioner Karen-Mae Hill and Economic and Trade Attaché Ideka Dowe.

In September 2021 Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister addressed the inaugural Africa-CARICOM Summit under the theme ‘Unity Across Continents and Oceans: Opportunities for Deepening Integration’.

During this summit he expressed his desire for there to be greater diplomatic cooperation between CARICOM and the African Union to include the creation of an annual Africa-CARICOM day to be celebrated on 7th September and the establishment of the Forum of African and Caribbean States (FACTS).

  1. I applaud the government on this move and Rwanda is a great place. It has taken us a long time to recognize that we need to embrace of mother land. And, have direct flights to places like Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria could be a game changer. We don’t have to just depend on the big brothers USA, Canada or England.

    • You don’t have to depends on big brothers but you are and will take many more like this to make a dent.
Rwanda will be but a trickle compare to the number one market the U.S. but it is good news never the less.
What happens when the U.S. gets affected ? The whole world also is.
And the continuation of almost exclusively dependency of tourism does not help.

      • Please note that I am not suggessting that we try to give up the Big Brother market, I am merely suggesting that we should not solely depend on it alone – there is a whole world out there.

Also, you speak of Rwanda as just a trickle, but do you have any idea about the population of some of those African countries. If you get 0.01 percent of the population coming here, we would need more hotel rooms. If you have a direct flight into Rwanda, if wil not only serve people from Rwanda, alot of persons from other African countries and the Asian market would use that route to travel to Antigua and other neighbouring islands. You have to look at the big picture.

While, any linkage with the African Continent is to be applauded, and many of us are keepin the #faith, that this is not just ‘pomp and pride.’
CARICOM, as a whole body, not in part or individually MUST hold annual high level Diplomatic Meetings, to address everything from EDUCATION to EMPLOYMENT to INVESTMENTS with the AFRICAN UNION.

Speaking of EDUCATION, the hypocrisy is blatantly present when our education systems are not teaching, not only the African languages(yea English, French, Spanish are widely spoken, but there are languages which will assist in the communication process, in particular, as it pertains to CULTURE!

Again, any ‘pebble in the ocean’ is welcomed news to Queen Mami_Wata and with #faith, she will transport and transpose it back and forth across the Atlantic to keep its ROOTS well watered, to strengthen its branches, to feed its leaves, to send forth aromatic flowers, to create the symbiotic relationship needed between Animal and plant life, to produce #Succulent Fruits, to be enjoyed fully by ALL.

  3. Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock! “The Afrocentric Paradigm is a revolutionary shift in thinking proposed as a constructural adjustment to black dislocation, disorientation, decenteredness and lack of agency.” – Dr. Molefi Asante, Afrocentricity, The Theory of Social Change!

Friends, CountryWoMen, Rastas, GoAB has like a drunken Buccaneer Privateer been stumbling or swashbuckling from “Entrepreneurial Socialism” to “Empowerment Capitalism” to “Individual Enrichment.”

“According to Foreign Minister Greene, the purpose of the agreement is to allow for the operating of international service routes and to regulate the air transport of passengers between both countries. It will enable the provision of direct flight services between Rwanda and Antigua and Barbuda and will also enable both countries to sell and market international air services either directly or through agents of designated airlines.” _ Press Release from GoAB’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Trade in KIGALI, Rwanda – 23rd June 2022! What utter Madness! Where ignorance is bliss its folly to be wise! That the wiseacres in GoAB would foist this Enrichment scheme and repositioning of state strategic imperatives on an unsuspecting People of African Descent with a neglected education clearly makes pellucid that GoAB lacked any sense of self and critical thinking! “In the Afrocentric view the problem of cultural location takes precedence over the topic or the data under consideration. The argumentis that Africans have been moved off of social, political, philosophical, and economic terms for half a millennium. Consequently it becomes necessary to examine all data from the standpoint of Africans as subjects, human agents, rather than as objects in a European frame of reference.” Asante speaking to the People of Guadeloupe! Have Governments of Antigua and Barbuda and Rwanda been broken by the CIA, MI6, DGSE and baffled by the wiles of Ali Baba and his Arabian Nights!

“…There are too many idiots in this world. And having said it, I have the burden of proving it.” ― Frantz Fanon, Black Skin, White Masks

Rwanda Air, 100% Government owned, has 12 aircraft and flies to 2 destinations in Europe – London and Brussels which are yet to be restarted given the Pandemic! On the Arabian Peninsula, it serves Doha and Dubai and on South Asia Mumbai while serving another 16 African Countries! A few displaced LIAT pilots have found refuge at Rwanda Air! The Rwanda Government is in final negotiations to sell 49% of its shares to Dubai! Clearly the Cigar Chomping Privateer at the Ministry of Aviation and A&B’s White Monopoly Capital Business Cronies sat this one out and deferred to the Arab Buccaneers and Privateer Ministers of Social Media and Radio, who, as the Hero would say pellucidly, did not understand or were clueless in knowing that “Consequently it becomes necessary to examine all data from the standpoint of Africans as subjects, human agents, rather than as objects in a European frame of reference.” – Asante!

It would appear that the highest levels of GoAB, captured by the Global Buccaneer and Privateer Leader in Residence and Citizenship by Investment, are not only enthralled by the stunning Dubai developments but are prepared to reposition state strategic imperatives to accommodate the penetration of the Caribbean by the Emirs and Emirates! who will bell the cat! “The unpreparedness of the educated classes, the lack of practical links between them and the mass of the people, their laziness, and, let it be said, their cowardice at the decisive moment of the struggle will give rise to tragic mishaps.” ― Frantz Fanon, The Wretched of the Earth!

LIAT was left to rot in the Caribbean Winds and Sea Salts! GoAB gallantly stayed aboard while all aboard had fled! Barbados and St. Vincent and the Grenadines took to their parachutes but left their stock of life jackets! LIAT continues to fly on one wing! Who will be recapitalizing LIAT! As you envision the Rwanda Air, Emirates Alliance with Emirates taking to the friendly Caribbean skies, Follow The Money and look to the historical referent point of African Slave Trade not only across the Middle Passage but also the Arabian Sea! “A government or a party gets the people it deserves and sooner or later a people gets the government it deserves.” ― Frantz Fanon, The Wretched of the Earth!
