Antigua ad Barbuda and Serbia abolish visa requirements

The Antigua and Barbuda passport was strengthened internationally on Friday, March 10 when Ambassadors of Antigua and Barbuda and the Republic of Serbia signed an agreement in Washington, DC, on behalf of their governments, abolishing visa requirements for their citizens.

The Agreement was negotiated and signed between Ambassador Sir Ronald Sanders, representing Antigua and Barbuda, and Ambassador Marko Djuric on behalf of the Republic of Serbia.

Ambassador Sanders remarked that, ”with the signing of the Agreement with Serbia, citizens of Antigua and Barbuda now have visa-free access to more than 162 nations, making the Antigua and Barbuda passport one of the strongest in the world”.  He added, that “both tourism to, and investment in, Antigua and Barbuda are enhanced by making access for visits easier for up to 90 days a year without a visa”.

Ambassador Djuric described the Agreement as “another step in further strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Serbia and Antigua and Barbuda”.  Students from Antigua and Barbuda already benefit from scholarships to study in Serbia, and the two countries have pledged to examine ways in which they could be helpful to each other, including through co-operation in tacking global issues such as economic consequences of the Russian war on Ukraine.

The two Ambassadors agreed to meet regularly to explore deeper economic cooperation between the two states in the interests of their peoples.

  1. Why in the Hanley & Partners says that we can travel visa free to 150 countries and The Ambassador Sanders say we can go to 162?

    • That Henley ranking is not that relevant or at list is not updated on a weekly basis. It’s annual, so the visa restrictions waived during the years won’t be corrected before next year.

  2. Useless and meaningless though for the average Antiguan. Whilst it might benefit their citizens who wants to come here not sure there are many Antiguans desirous of visiting Serbia. Our government need to work with Canada in restoring visa free access for Antiguans wishing to visit Canada.

    • Thank you. I was going to comment about the same thing. How many Antiguans going to Serbia?

Work on getting back visa free access to Canada. That makes more sense!

    • Canada ? What’s the connection ? This is for tourism man. They didn’t say that it was for migration or anything else. You never know the Antiguans wishing to visit that place, just talk for yourself.

  3. Our country can do both. Work on restoring Visa free access to Canada where we like to go for whatever reason while at the same time it’s great that there is now one more country that we have Visa free access to and they to us. That allows for more visitors to our country and greater opportunities for investments. Look on both sides the positives and the negatives.

  4. How many Antiguans and Barbudans have ever been to Serbia? How many have intentions of going to Serbia? This is just a photo op and a filler for news.

    • I have been there about 40 years ago when I toured around Europe back then it was called Yugoslavia. The people were incredibly backwards, they may have become enlightened, as when I was there they made feel like a novelty on a Christmas tree. Strangely they had not seen black people before, some attempted to touch my hair, touch my skin, as they wanted to see if my colour would change. I had to stop them from touching me.

There are six republics that made up the federation:Bosnia (not in Clare Hall), and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, as well as the regions of Kosovo and Vojvodin and Slovenia.

Croatia has a reputation for human trafficking, Antigua Immigration Services should be on the alert!!

      • They attempted to touch your skin ? You should have let them do that, they either wanted to see if you really existed or considered you as their celebrity. Anyway your story is very funny 😆😆😆

  5. The majority of Antiguans and Barbudans are not interested in the county of Serbia. It is not a beneficial for us. We are more interested in America, Canada and England. I know America would not grant us visa-free access; however, ambassador Ronald Sanders need to work on getting the visa-free access to Canada.

  6. Serbia, is one of those Eastern European countries that do not embrace black people, their economy is not thriving and I wouldn’t not recommend it as a safe place for black people to visit.

It is beggers beliefs what the Guyanese Renegade perceived to be the advantageous benefits for Antigua and Barbuda.

I guess we will know in due season when the scandal breaks out like we were made aware following the many scandals that we was involved with selling of our passports when he was in the UK.

He applied for the Commonwealth Secretariat role and the Daily telegraph exposed him and influenced it members to vote against him, but ALP kept him on. No surprises there.

  8. @Mae:I fully agreed with you. This is low hanging fruit.Even a baby in a crib could have gotten this done.As far as getting the Visa free access to Canada reinstated. That would take some work. Those Ambassadors representing this Nation seems to be very lazy. DEM LOB PHOTO OPS.

  9. This is one big fat joke,a gag reel, these leaders are insane Serbia?Eastern Europe?this is a joke, they will benefit more from coming to Antigua&Barbuda than than an Antiguan traveling to Serbia…my goodness, importing more disenfranchised people to little Antigua
