We are looking for an experienced
Marine Engineering Manager
to join our team in Barbuda.
The Marine Engineering Manager is responsible for the safety and functional performance
of the marine fleet and will be the primary boat captain for the club.
Key Tasks
Oversee the operation and maintenance of the boat fleet, ensuring that they are well maintained and operating in an efficient and safe manner · Manage on and off-site equipment maintenance · Be the primary boat captain for the club, responsible for vessel piloting, navigation, safety, security, first aid and cleanliness · Establish and maintain a repair and maintenance schedule for all boats · Diagnose mechanical and cosmetic issues · Test marine engines, transmissions, propellers, navigational gear and similar to diagnose malfunctions · Perform mechanical and cosmetic repairs within your ability · Maintain equipment files and records · Order and maintain stock of spare parts and supplies · Maintain inventory of department equipment · Responsible for fueling boats
The successful candidate MUST possess the following:
- 7 + years marine boat handling experience
- 4 + years marine Captain experience
- 3 + years of guest service / hospitality experience, luxury hotel or private club preferred
- MCA approved engine maintenance and MCA approved diesel engine maintenance
- Advanced knowledge of water sports and excursions. Advanced training, licensing and/or ability to instruct preferred
- Certifications: STCW 95 MCA and RYA Powerboat Level 2 or equivalent
- Extensive boat maintenance knowledge and skills
- CPR, AED and First Aid Certification required
- In depth understanding of tides, navigation and weather conditions
- Excellent crisis management skills
- Positive attitude, professional demeanor, exceptional communication
- Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays
