Simon is now on a different ward where he is no longer breathing via a ventilator but has been given a tracheostomy.

Relatives are asking for no visitors at the current time due to fears of Covid contagion.

The family also confirmed yesterday on the Good Morning Jojo Sports Show that permission was given by the medical team at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre to seek medical attention abroad.

They hope Simon can travel next week. He remains under the watchful eye of hospital medics in the meantime.

Simon was one of four cyclists injured after being hit by a car on May 8. A man has since been charged with dangerous driving.

Efforts to raise funds for Simon to receive critical treatment in the US continue. Anyone wishing to help can do so here.

  1. I wish him and the other three speedy recovery. The team at Sir Lester Bird Medical Center is doing a phenomenal job despite the limited resources. God bless them all. To the Simon family, Stay strong.
