Keishell Labeach, a 40-year-old American visitor who is four months pregnant, has been fined after cannabis was discovered in her luggage while she prepared to depart Antigua.
The incident occurred on March 25 at the airport’s oversized baggage area, where security personnel raised an alert. Police who responded reported finding multiple packages of cannabis, including two transparent bags, two Ziploc bags and several capsules.
According to court records, the drugs weighed 163.4 grammes and were valued at $1,634.

Labeach appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel and pleaded guilty to the offence. Her attorney, Wendel Alexander, told the court she had forgotten the cannabis was in her suitcase and noted that she is of Antiguan parentage.
The court ordered that she pay a $3,000 fine within 14 days or face six months in prison. The cannabis was confiscated.

What kind of low life is this? The poor child has no chance. Disgraceful!
Smh. As she forgot the drugs were in her bag, it implies that she brought it here from the US. Is that so? What does her Antiguan parentage have to do with the drugs? Is that what antiguan parents give their children as parting gifts? I know the law recommends an amount but to me this is way too light an amount.
This was not just a case of being in possession of the drug, this should also have been trafficking.
Her parentage should have nothing to do with this trial. What travel document was she travelling on? The fact that her parentage was brought up signifies that she, herself, did not carry Antiguan status but should have access to it. Suggests she has relatives in Antigua.
Was she being used as a mule?
Was that avenue even investigated?
Why is there these great discrepancies between different persons charged with the same crime although with differing weights of the drug.
We need to do better, both from the drafting of laws, regulations and consequences.
tarl them FOREIGNERS coming in fast and furious with the drugs
Last week it was Canadians
