  1. This US citizen needs to immediately contact the Antigua Police force and secondly contact the crime victim fund in the state in which she resides, the Texas Crime Victim Fund.

This fund may be able to pay for her medical needs in this matter, counseling, if she is missing work, transportation to return to the US, or housing if she needs to stay on Antigua for court and her salary if she is missing work.

She is in a country with no crime victim fund program so under the rule, she qualifies.

She needs a police report, and then can proceed with the Texas crime victim fund program application.

Rape is a qualifying crime, felonious assault is too, criminal sexual contact.

Crime victims rights advocacy office that represents and assist USC and LPR visiting Antigua and Barbuda, and the Caribbean will be available soon in Antigua.

Contact information will be made available soon. I am so sorry about the incident and we should assist anyone I’m the situation as much as possible. I take your complaint seriously

  2. Now how does this sound or read in this case?
“she had been sexually violated by a man with whom she is familiar”.
“Officers from the Rape Unit later interviewed the woman and obtained relevant information, and she was given certain directives by the officers.”
    End of story
For a country whose bread and butter is tourism: way to go CID, our competent Commissioner of Police.

  3. For those who may not not, 1 in 3 females, including little girls are sexually assaulted by men every year. For varying reasons, including shame, embarrassment, confusion, guilty, no one believing, etc. Most of these crimes are not reported. In fact, most women do not even talk about it at all, and they live through their entire lives without ever disclosing this, or until a much older age. Let’s not judge these people, especially when they don’t report it immediately, because unless you’ve walked this road, it’s very difficult to deal with. It’s a lifetime scar! I know, because I’ve been there.

  4. My previous post was solely intended to illustrate either the poor reporting or the competence or lack of competence of the law enforcement apparatus in Antigua and Barbuda.
Certainly, any victim of a sexual crime should be treated with sensitivity and respect.
The article says: “she was given certain directives by the officers”.
Did they tell her what ? Given she is familiar with the person she is accusing. Did they tell her go and bring him to them?
She must have given the police unfit to identify him. Are they telling her to go into hiding?

  5. Im sorry but men have been the victims of false allegations for far too long. Il wait until all the evidence is presented before i go running with this story.

    • Anyone who reports a case of rape, that case should always be treaty with sensitivity yes, but at the same time, there are two sides to every story, & in a Court of Law, it’s not what you say, it’s what you can prove, that’s why it’s of the utmost importance that WE human beings try NEVER to put ourselves in any situation that would allow anyone to take advantage of us, which usually occurs behind closed doors, bcz cases of this nature usually boils down to he said she said. I hope this young lady is able to learn from this experience, & rise above it. God bless.

  6. If she’s a tourist, how is she “familiar” with dis man? What de man doing at your apartment at 12 am? Tourists or locals who engage in this “familiarity” are scum.
