The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre receives support from the Calvin Ayre Foundation (CAF) as they sponsor training for technicians to operate the hyperbaric chamber.
This is in line with CAF’s commitment to enhance healthcare in Antigua and Barbuda.
Having donated a hyperbaric chamber in 2018, CAF now focuses on maximizing its potential by providing specialized training for medical staff.
The chamber offers advanced treatments, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy and diabetic ulcer care.
The training program involves experts in hyperbaric medicine instructing hospital staff, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, and advanced emergency medical technicians.
The foundation collaborates with Local Dive Experts and Divers Alert Network (DAN) trainers to ensure proficiency among healthcare professionals.
CAF’s dedication to healthcare advancements is highlighted by its ongoing collaboration with the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center and the Antigua Barbuda Emergency Medical Services.

And when this naturalize citizen is bestowed with the highest honor of our country, you UPP guys would criticize saying what has this man done. But look at the many charitable contributions he has been making to this country. To numerous to call. to me he has long earned the title Sir Calvin Ayre.
Thank you once again Mr. Ayre on behalf of the good citizens of this country.
Must be a Dave Ray
Let me get this straight. You are telling me that this piece of equipment was donated to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda almost six years ago. And the Gov could not find it feasible to get individuals to train locals on how to operate this machine. Yet six years later the same individual who donated said machine is seeking someone to do so. This is so laughable it’s not even funny. And the minister of health had a knighthood bestowed upon him for doing what. I said it before and I will say it again at Holbrerton you going home at SLBMC you going to a funeral home. Gaston to those underperforming ministers FIRE THEIR ASSES.
