Alfa Nero Superyacht Faces Uncertain Future as Second Auction Likelihood Fades

11

The likelihood of a second auction for the Alfa Nero superyacht has waned, as the owners appear reluctant, potentially due to a lack of appealing offers or a change of stance.

Information Minister Melford Nicholas clarified statements by the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff, Lionel Hurst, who had suggested a second auction. Nicholas expressed government optimism about reaching a deal with the second-highest bidder, US real estate mogul Warren Halle.

Legal issues have delayed proceedings, with Halle suing the government for alleged non-compliance with auction rules. Eric Schmidt, the initial bidder, withdrew a $67 million bid due to legal delays.

The vessel, linked to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s associate Andrey Guryev, has been in Falmouth Harbour for nearly two years, raising environmental and security concerns for the government.

The possibility of a second auction remains uncertain, contingent on the secondary buyer’s interest in finalizing an agreement.

  1. Give the yacht back to its owner. It doesn’t belong to Antigua. Use the peoples tax money so we THE PEOPLE CAN SEE SOME BENEFIT from our hard earned TAX dollars. Seems your greed has blinded you. How long do WE, THE PEOPLE, have to endure this abuse?

    • Gaston Browne with all his greed thought this was gonna be an easy steal for him and his family of crooks. New owner purchases boat for 67 mil money goes straight to Gaston’s offshore account in Miami easy Peasy. Not so fast now you find out you cannot rob the rightful owners and you can fill your pockets Give boat back and at least they may pay monies due

  2. This government is indeed a Crackhead government, a comedy of errors, blunders, blatantly stupid and abject failures. Their attempt at piracy has blown up in their faces but they’re too dunce, arrogant and imbecilic to acknowledge their gross, costly error.
Max Hurst, so wanting to sound relevant, continues to speak without knowledge and invariably, someone must come later and rubbish his lies. Melfraud and Max must get their story straight. What a bunch of misfits!
For goodness sake, just give the lady her damn yacht, let her pay whatever cost was incurred and tell her get to stepping. Stop the wastage of taxpayers money because of you greed and stupidity.

  3. The whole world know this yacht is not owned by the government of Antigua. If somebody buys it and it sails into a Russian friendly port and is seized by the owner then what? Or if the Russians blow it up, then what? I guess that would be the buyer’s problem. Give the owners their yacht and let America seize it because they are the super power and can do what they want. Gaston and his DA probably think this yacht is Antigua and Barbuda lands.

  4. Surprise, Surprise; Gaston Browne was warned from the get go by the intellectual and critical citizens of this great country not to get involved with the Alpha Nero.

However, he thought he knew better.

EXCUSE ME WHILE I HAVE A GOOD GUFFAW AT THIS FOOLS EXPENSE … 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
