Things are back to normal at the VC Bird International Airport after security workers downed tools this morning in protest of the behaviour of a senior member of staff.

The action, according to reports, disrupted the normal check-in of passengers who must first clear security checkpoints.

Antigua News Room (ANR) was reliably informed that the manager at the crux of the matter has been stripped of his airport security clearance and has been placed on suspension.

It is alleged that several weeks ago the man inappropriately touched a female security officer.

The matter was reported to other senior management officials who allegedly sent the manager for counselling.

However, in anticipation of his return, the female security officer was assigned to work in the office, where the manager reportedly saw her on Monday and made certain comments, which have been deemed inappropriate.

Reports are that the manager is claiming that he did not recognise the woman.

Workers got wind of his action and decided to make a point this morning by not turning out to assigned posts for duty until management properly addressed the issue.

The action was taken by the 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. shift workers who returned to work after 9 a.m. after representatives from their bargaining agent, the Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union (ABWU) met with airport management.
