Air Quality Bulletin

Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services

11:15 AM Thursday 21 October 2021

Air Quality Index Based on Particulate Matters 2.5 (PM2.5) and 10 (PM10) Concentration

Air quality category: Moderate

Location: Antigua and Barbuda

Timing: Until Sunday

Synopsis: The air quality is down to moderate levels as a result of particulate matters 2.5 and 10, associated primarily with a fresh surge in Saharan Dust. There is also high confidence that emissions from the volcano in La Palma, Canary Islands are also reaching the area; however, but the Dust dominates. The threat of health problems will become elevated, for mainly unusually sensitive people, such as asthmatics and could potentially cause them limited impacts.

Air quality index: 60 to 90

Alert Level: II

Sensitive groups: People with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly and children are the groups most at risk.

Health implications: Air quality is acceptable; however, for some pollutants there may be a moderate health concern for a very small number of people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution.

Caution: Active children and adults, and people with respiratory disease, such as asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor exertion.

  1. The Sahara dust that we use to get was more brown in colour in the air but now they seem to be white . Are you sure you’re not mistaking the ash from la Palma or are you trying to side track people?

    • “There is also high confidence that emissions from the volcano in La Palma, Canary Islands are also reaching the area; however, but the Dust dominates”

Can’t blame you though. Media is so questionable these days

    • @Jelly 2020…hopefully samples of the dust are being analyzed.
Since, Harvard university scientists sponsored by the Bill Gates Foundation are releasing dust particles into the stratosphere, to test its effect on the suns rays to slow the warming of the planet, to combat #Climate #Change /Global Warning, can some of these dust particles be mixed in with the Sahara dust?
