AGHS Student Shines in Annual Chinese Proficiency Competition, Takes Top Prize

The 3rd Chinese Proficiency Competition for Secondary School Students was recently held at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Antigua and Barbuda.

Bringing together 11 talented students from three institutions, the event symbolized the strong diplomatic ties between China and Antigua and Barbuda.

Distinguished speakers, including Ambassador Zhang Yanling and Mrs Listine Bradshaw, highlighted the progress made in the competition and the importance of learning Mandarin for cultural exchange.

The contestants showcased their linguistic abilities through speeches, dance, music, and art, impressing the judges.

The audience actively participated in calligraphy writing and a game of charades, fostering interest in Chinese language and culture. Mrs Diamond Joseph expressed appreciation for the contestants’ hard work.

The immersive experience left a lasting impression, inspiring Antigua and Barbuda’s youth and promoting cultural exchange.

Alycia Alie from AGHS emerged as the winner of this year’s competition.
