Speaking in Parliament, he outlined the government’s ongoing legislative efforts to combat gang violence, referencing concerns raised by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) about rising gang-related crimes across the Caribbean, including Jamaica, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana.
Sir Steadroy contrasted the situation in Antigua and Barbuda with these nations, stressing that the country is far from a crisis.
He credited the government’s proactive measures, such as the Prime Minister’s successful gang truce initiative, with significantly reducing crime.
Additionally, he emphasized the government’s ability to offer support to law enforcement in neighboring Caribbean countries, further underscoring Antigua and Barbuda’s relative safety and stability.

Somebody put a gag on this clown. He sits in his guarded place and feels safe with no concern for the welfare of the citizens and continue to utter thus crap.
Apparently he has blinded his eyes and ears to the plight of people fearful for their lives. This is to mask his blatant incompetence.
Shamu, noone gives a damn about “compared to other countries.” We live here and it is not safe,so stop the lies.
Again I say, until these ALP ministers minister become victims, this idiot will continue with this nonsense.
More damn whataboutery from this wotless and out of sorts Goverment.
Using the excuses of crimes in other Caribbean countries is lazy, lame and lamentable by the Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin.
Ah well at least he’s admitting that crime is rising in Antigua; and yet when it was first brought to his attention 18-24 months ago regarding, burglaries, rapes, night time home invasions and the plethora of businesses being robbed 24/7, this same said Attorney General (alongside Police Commissioner Attlee Rodney and Gaston Browne) stayed quiet.
And look where we are now Benjamin.
He’ll be telling us next that the ABLP will be allowing the criminal fraternity to open up ‘Ganz Are Us’ stores next …
I see this website is again very selective on what they report from parliament. It should not have escape anyone that Jamal Pringle again embarrassed himself in parliament when the set out to put the blame of crime on the feet of the Prime Minister. Especially when he said that the Prime Minister said he has “Plenty Gangs”. He was right that it was the Prime Minister who said that, however it wasn’t this prime minister. It was PM Baldwin Spence who is on record in Parliament that said, he has plenty gangs, and when in opposition debating the new education levy, he told the nation, When the Tax Man comes to your home. sharpen your cutlass and chop them up, nothing wrong with that. And he never apologize for those words, and the police never called him in for questioning. We call Donald Trump crazy when he makes certain statements, however had anyone followed his advice and chopped up a tax man, what would we say? He should publicly apologize to the people working to collect our taxes.
But what amazes me more is that anyone coming in to Parliament would make sure they have their facts right. For Jamal Pringle not to have his facts, having to take back his words is appalling. He has a research officer in the name of his Chairwoman, Giselle Isaac. It seems that she didn’t do her job and is not worth to be paid for that service. And it is because of her that Jamal constantly looks stupid in parliament.
Jamal take the hint, you are being setup to look like a whimp, a duncy bat. And it looks like you like it so.
