OINTEXPRESS: Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin has confirmed he, and ten members of his family have tested positive for COVID-19.
The spread of the virus is believed to have taken place at the family’s Christmas dinner.
In response to a request for confirmation, Minister Benjamin said they are “all doing fine, should be fully recovered in a few days.”
The person suspected to be the cause of the outbreak to those present at the event was not identified, however information suggests a female family member in attendance complained of feeling unwell. She further revealed that her spouse and child had above normal temperatures.
The Benjamin family apparently brushed the information aside and went on to dine and socialise together.
It was not until the gathering had dispersed that some family members began complaining of feeling unwell.
As a result, COVID tests were carried out leading to 11 positive results, including that of the attorney general.

If you are gathering, even in family social events be aware. Wear your masks, social distance and if one amongst you feels unwell or has presented with a raised temperature or the sniffles then that person cannot stay amongst the group.
This virus is very virulent and spreads easily and quickly. The one thing we can be a little thankful for is that it is not as deadly as it’s fore-runner, the Delta variant.

That in my opinion is very important.There are vast differences between the Delta Variant and the Omicron Variant.The EXPERTS say the Omicron is a much faster spreader. What I want the Minister of Health to do is to design a health and wellness program for his Cabinet members and that the PM makes it mandatory for them to participate in.

Fully equipped with saunas, massage booths, jacuzzi I, all modern interactive exercise equipments with a fully designed commercial kitchen managed and staffed by the Hotel Training school(great training for the students).
Of course, the new wing could be named for Ambassador Sidelines and Senator Tenman. Your legacies would be solidified, and it won’t even cost you a penny nor farthing, since, the project will get full approval of the Cabinet, you more than likely have duty-free concessions, and can even negotiate to have some of your future private business taxes, levy’s waved for a period of time.

Do you know that some employers provide subsidies for those that attend a gym? This is done to encourage employees to stay healthy. A healthy employee is more productive and not sick all the time. The government is an employer of the ministers. You seem to have a problem paying for them to stay healthy, yet they receive monies to go overseas when they are ill. And Jacqui Quin was the biggest example. And you didn’t have a problem with that. It cost us over $200,000.00. Once again it shows how nakedly bias you are. “They are already highly paid” This statement alone tells me that you are joking, or you have no clue what you are talking about. Government ministers in Antigua and Barbuda are not highly paid. And everyone knows that. A private sector management job pays far better than any public sector job. That is why there is corruption in government. Because sometime the temptation is so much that you give a guy a contract to remove dead dogs from the street and he makes millions doing that. While you who have more responsibilities taking care of government business gets a salary of $10K- $15K. Reason why I can never work for the government as a salaried worker. I will only be a consultant and they have to pay me what my price is.
