Accounts Administrator at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa Marisa Lynch has done herself, family, employer and country proud.
Lynch graduated with highest honours, summa cum laude, on October 13, 2019 from Monroe College with a Bachelor of Business Administration, BBA, in Business Management.
The Buckley’s resident attended the graduation ceremony in Saint Lucia and recaps the momentous occasion.
“I was the flag bearer for Antigua,” she said. “That was a proud moment.” Lynch transferred to the Monroe College in September 2017 after attending the Antigua & Barbuda International Institute of Technology (ABIIT). Over the next two years, she completed her coursework online.
“It was a bit challenging, but once I got my rhythm, I stuck with it” the accounts administrator said of the challenges of online study.
The Sandals employee noted that her networking skills with her classmates helped to reduce the amount she spent on books. As a fulltime employee, she also had to maximise her time management skills.
Lynch began her career at Sandals Grande Antigua as an income auditor in June 2008. She was promoted to her current accounts administrator position in 2015.
“We are a company that prides itself in the development of its team members,” General Manager at Sandals Grande Antigua Matthew Cornall said.
“We are especially proud of Marisa’s accomplishment.” Lynch spoke highly of the overall efforts by the resort and her department head in facilitating her studies.
“I did my internship at Sandals,” she said. “I went to Purchasing, Sales and Butler departments…That was a good experience; it gave me a good understanding of a management role.”
The past student of the All Saints Secondary School aspires to climb even higher up the corporate ladder within the company.
“I want to expand with Sandals,” she said. “There are a lot of opportunities in the company. I want to function in a management role.”
With a passion in events planning, Lynch is buoyant that she will someday work in an events management position in the company.
