As confirmation of its continued commitment to the development of pan in Antigua and Barbuda, Acting General Manager of the Antigua Commercial Bank (ACB), Peter Ashe, along with Antigua Barbuda Festivals Commission (ABFC) Chairman, Maurice Merchant, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Monday 23rd July, during the bank’s sponsorship
Remarks from ACB’s Marketing and Public Relations Executive, Seth Burton, indicated the bank’s pleasure to be a longstanding sponsor of the competition, for the eleventh consecutive year.
He added that while the bank’s three pillars of corporate social responsibility included Sports, Education, and Culture, they are quite happy with the evolution of the panorama competition over the years, especially now that the pan art form is at its peak at both the junior and national levels, in Antigua and Barbuda.
The Minister of Sports, Culture, National Festivals, and the Arts, Honourable Daryll Matthew, conveyed his appreciation to the Board of Directors, Management, and Staff of the country’s premier indigenous banking institution, for their continued support of the panorama competition, and by extension, Antigua’s Carnival.
The 48th Panorama Competition will showcase nine bands, competing for the 2018 Panorama Championship title, including, Original Steel Orchestra; Hadeed Group of Companies/AMP West Side Symphony; Harmonites Steel; East Vibes Steel Orchestra; Cool & Smooth Ebonites Steel Orchestra; West Indies Oil Company Gemonites Steel Orchestra; Halcyon Steel Orchestra; Panache Steel Orchestra, and defending champions, FLOW Hells Gate Steel Orchestra.
On its new night, the ACB Victor “Babu” Samuel Panorama Competition will be staged on Saturday 4 th August at Carnival City beginning at 8pm.
