ABRCS Launches Sign Language Training to Enhance Crisis Support and Inclusivity

4

To promote inclusivity and improve service delivery, the ABRCS launched sign language classes for volunteers on August 15, 2024.

The six-week hybrid sessions, facilitated by Juliet Hazelwood, aim to enhance volunteer engagement and ensure that deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals can access vital information during crises.

Dr. J. Humphreys, ABRCS President, emphasized that clear communication is crucial in emergencies, where it can be a matter of life and death, and is essential for effective aid and safety procedures.
