The Antigua Labour Party’s s statement is not a serious critique of the United Progressive Party’s Manifesto. It is a political distraction – a frightened whistle in the dark – that carefully avoids the real issues facing the People of this country.
The UPP has published a clear, structured, accessible and modern Manifesto that addresses core national priorities – water, roads, crime, healthcare, cost of living, governance reform, and economic opportunity – enumerated by the voters, themselves.
However, the ABLP is preoccupied with format instead of content.
That it is available online does not diminish the Manifesto’s legitimacy; rather, it confirms that the Party is ready to embrace a 21st-century approach to communication with the public.
In the face of the People’s hardships – and their fears brought on by US visa restrictions – the Labour Party has poured millions of dollars into its election campaign.
But heavy advertising, political messaging, and costly concerts raise a fundamental question: If such significant financial resources are available for campaigning, why are those resources not translating into improvement in the lives of citizens?
Because the ABLP is more focused on maintaining power than on delivering services to the People.
The ABLP claims the UPP has “no plan.” Yet, it offers no substantive engagement with the actual policies presented. Instead, it leans on outdated narratives about 2004–2014, avoiding any meaningful defense of its 12-year record of underperformance.
Where the ABLP has presented criticism, distraction, and excess, the United Progressive Party has presented a vision for change, crafted from the People’s needs. At their current low point, voters are asking for results, accountability, and a credible path forward. They are not interested in political theatrics.

Gaston is simply out of ideas for the governance of Antigua and Barbuda. For 12 years, I honestly do not see any real progress in this nation! He talk about the opposition looming job, but he so since he is blighted to see that same exact argument lies for him!
And he’s worst, for he just raping the country, and going from obe scandal to the next, and CONSTANTLY failing to realise that while serving in the time is PM, there’s some decorum that souls exist. Instead he chooses to carry on like a Jackass on social media with his vulgarity at every opportunity.
You’re a PM that can’t even commands the resilient for other CARIBBEAN leaders. Look how they laugh at you when you sought a meeting over LIAT, and mite recently, how they laughed at you over the visa debacle
Brown…. You’re a real CLOWN
ABLP’S ATTACKS UPP’S MANIFESTO #3
I’m in total agreement with the writer of this well balanced opinion piece.
Like me, the writer recognised that once the ABLP demanded the release of the UPP’S manifesto so that the voting public could read, decipher and then make up their own minds on this covenant; this government was always going to – predictably go on the attack.
Yet, any right thinking person who has observed the ABLP’S last couple of manifestos, recognise their own shortcomings – especially their broken promises and pledges to date!
Hopefully, the UPP will reverse their weak attempts at deflection, and make a FULL list of ABLP’S lack of achievements over the last 11-12 years. I would!
I might just do that… 🤔
