ABLP TO OPEN ITS OWN RADIO STATION

Antigua & Barbuda Labour Party leader, Prime Minister Gaston Browne, will spearhead the creation of Point Radio for his party.

“I can confirm that “POINT RADIO” will soon start transmission,” Chief of Staff Lionel Max Hurst confirmed in an email.

For years, ZDK Liberty Radio, owned by the Bird family, has been the mouthpiece of the ABLP.

But Hurst said, when launched, Point Radio’s mission “I will be primarily to promote the ABLP Mission.”

In recent month ZDK has been more open to allowing other political parties equal airtime on its radio station, althought its listeners are pre-dominantly ABLP supporters.

Hurst could not say precisely when the entity will begin transmission but confirmed that veteran broadcaster “Colin O’Neal is seemingly involved.”

Efforts to reach Sean Bird of ZDK for his reaction were not possible at the time of this posting.
