The Antigua & Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) has taken issue with statements made by Member of Parliament Eustace “Teco” Lake on the opposition-friendly Observer Radio regarding his resignation.
Lake said he did not draft a letter indicating that he would not contest the next general election on an ABLP ticket.
But the party general secretary Mary Clair Hurst said: “I do not appreciate it because we do not operate like that in our organization.”
Speaking on Point FM, a radio station owned by Prime Minister Gaston Browne, the general secretary said Lake “will fall in line” adding that her colleague “probably felt the need to grandstand.”
“When the prime minister and leader of our party calls him in he will conform,” Hurst said.
She has also taken issue with Lake over the failure to outrightly endorse his replacement, Daryl Matthew.
“Daryl Matthew has the full support of the executive and members of the Antigua Barbuda Labour Party,” Hurst insisted.
She expects Lake to “settle down” adding that he has been given assurances by the prime minister of continued good favour with his government.
Lake was replaced by Daryl Matthew over concerns regarding his health and will not contest the St. John’s Rural South seat at the next general election.

How has he been thrown to the side of the road?? I think its an outrage that someone who had MAJOR surgery -an actual transplant less than two wks would be stressing over such things.. I find it difficult to even entertain the possibility that the PM and by extension the Party would just cast him aside and forget about him,that will not happen..I listened to Mr Lake today on Both Pointe FM &ZDK Respectively and he sounded sometimes very confused,i think his main priority right now should be thanking God for where he has bought him so far and relaxing both mentally and physically. If after the dust has been settled and he is been ignored then he has all rights to do and say whatever he wishes to,but one cannot be apart of an organization especially with such ranks and go venting in public..I have many issues with the company i work for but knows i must restrain myself from going public with certain issues,it just do not work that way.

Teco had no right to accept such an interview from the snake pit…. Serpant had him as he want and got the answers he was looking for.. Teco armed us the opposition with ammunition… It was shameful…. Teco should know that as part of any organisation it is unethical to air dirty laundry out in the public….. I am sure incidents like this will continue to be ABLP downfall.

I really don’t or is thinking about power or any of the concocted dreams been derived here. I was asked a question and my answer was simply the truth. Was I aware it was been written? Yes! Did I write it? No! Whatvisbitbthe expecation is a lie or truth! I am focusing on my health and although I would have thought the interview would have been around the current surgery, it wasn’t. What does she mean that he will fall in line. Is this organization a school or a boy’s/girls club. My question is if Teco is well enough to contest and defend his seat do the Labour Party constitution provides for him to be removed and no defend his seat that he won in the last election???? Let’s not stray from the real issue because you want to take someone off the hook.
