ABLP Executive to ratify Lamin Newton as caretaker in All Saints West

STATEMENT FROM THE ABLP CHAIRMAN

 On Friday evening, 15 March 2024, the ABLP held a primary election among three candidates in the All Saints West Constituency, in order to determine who among the aspirants would become the caretaker representative of the Party, leading to scheduled general elections in 2028.

 

    The three ABLP candidates were: Comrade Regis Burton, Comrade Lamin Newton, and Comrade Ary Simon. The results of the primary election were tabulated last evening, and Mr. Lamin Newton received more votes than the other two candidates.

 

The Executive of the ABLP will meet next Friday, 22 March 2024, to affirm the results of the Primary and to ratify the choice of Comrade Lamin as the caretaker candidate.

There is great anticipation and excitement among the party faithful, knowing that the  comrade-candidates have all pledged support for the winner, and that victory in the All Saints West Constituency is assured.

The bigger concern for Labour Party members and supporters should be the fact that a UPP turncoat who spent so many years having the worst to say about the ABLP was chosen as caretaker over two actual comrades who have never wavered in their love and support of the party. It’s a narrative that has been playing out far too often and it’s only a matter of time before it adversely affects the inner workings of the party. I don’t have anything against Lamin personally, but one has to consider the fact that it could be a UPP plan to be gone with.

  3. Antiguafirst. Why is that a problem? All over the world people have crossed party lines. Sometimes in life we all make errors. It is important to learn from these errors. Baldwin Spencer was AT&LU and went to PLM and UPP. 10 members of the UPP went to DNA. How about Alister Thomas? How many parties has he been in? Where did Sean Bird come from? Get a life..This is politics and UPP views like yours demonstrate why UPP will never win another election. You simply do not understand politics. Ask Lammin why he left the UPP? His answer is the same as Cleone Athill and many others who have left.

  5. Pick Lamen as the caretaker.For he would be getting another beating in the next Elections. As a Candidate for the UPP.He was beaten by ABLP,Michael Browne in 2018.The feedbacks from the Constituents then,they did not see LAMEN ever.

    Keep working hard and representing the people of All Saints West with total dedication even though the ALP has shot itself in the foot with this one.

  8. Well That is what the voters who took the time to vote decided. However he is not my choice of representative for that constituency. Mr. Regis Burton with 142 votes for a first timer is the better person to win the seat for the ABLP in the next election. Lamin has too much baggage to deal with come next election.

  9. Lamin is in politics for the wrong reasons. He is not a real people’s person. He is in it to get power and standing in the country. He has made more enemies in the ministry of Agriculture than anyone else. His management style is that of a dictator. Just give him more power and he will show you his true colors. Coming straight from the UPP. A leopard never changes it spots. Laborites please be aware of this.

  10. Lamin Newton some years back could not defend nor rollout his plans on a public platform pertaining to his candidacy…Is he able to do that now move past his rhetoric do the research as to what All Saints East needs by himself with no embellish men😎😎🤓🤓…
