Several Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party candidates used the Easter weekend to send messages of hope, renewal and community commitment to their constituencies and the wider public.
Among them was Rawdon Turner, who extended “warm Easter greetings” to the people of St. Peter and the country, describing the season as a reminder of “hope, renewal, and the strength we find in unity.” Turner said he remained committed to helping build stronger communities and wished households peace, joy and blessings.
Dwayne George also marked the occasion, saying Easter Sunday in community, surrounded by “faith, family, and love,” was a reminder of what matters most. He wished residents and their loved ones a joyful and blessed Easter.
Michael Freeland, in a message to the people of St. George, said he was grateful for the chance to celebrate with friends and neighbours at St. George’s Anglican. He said Easter called on people to embrace hope, renewal and togetherness, adding that the season was a reminder that “better days will come.”
Charles “Max” Fernandez shared Easter greetings as well, wishing families renewed hope, peace and blessings. He said the message of resurrection and new beginnings should inspire people to support one another and work together for a brighter future in their community.
Anthony Smith Jr., addressing residents of All Saints West, said Easter was a time for renewal, hope and togetherness. He used the message to reaffirm his commitment to the constituency, saying he remained ready to listen, serve and continue working to uplift communities in the area.
Maria Browne, in an Easter greeting to the people of St. John’s Rural East and the wider nation, wished that the risen Christ would bless homes with peace, families with love, and communities with unity and hope. She said the sacred season should renew faith and “strengthen us as one people and one nation.”
The messages, while varied in tone, shared common themes of faith, family, resilience and public service as candidates joined the wider Easter observance across Antigua and Barbuda.

Technically, Anthony Smith is an “independent” representative for All Saints West after removing himself from the constituents he represented under the UPP banner, so how on earth can he be sending Easter messages under the banner of Gaston Browne’s ABLP?
Unless it’s some sort of generic message…
Bwoi, we Antiguans are definitely living in a parallel political universe 🤣🤣🤣
10 REASONS WHY I WILL VOTE AGAINST ABLP IN THE UPCOMING ELECTIONS
1. THE UNITED STATES WILL NOT RESTORE OUR VISAS UNDER ABLP. A NEW GOVRNMENT WOULD BE MORE LIKELY TO GET A REPRIEVE; EVEN AS A GOODWILL GESTURE.
2. WE WILL GET TO SEE THE FULL SCALE OF GIVE-AWAYS AND UNBALANCED QUID PRO QUOs THIS GOVERNMENT HAS FORCED US INTO.
3. WE WILL GET TO KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT “NYAMCO” AND ALL THE OTHER SCHEMES COOKED UP BY ABLP AND THEIR HECHMEN TO CREAM OFF OUR MONEY.
4. WE WILL FINALLY HAVE A GOVERNMENT THAT WILL HAVE TO LISTEN TO US IN A MEANINGFUL WAY AND NOT HEAR, “OH, THAT IS WHY WE ARE THE GOVERNMENT”
5. THE SCOURGE OF SELF-ENRICHMENT WILL BE REMOVED FOR GOOD. MORE EMPOWERMENT FOR YOU AND ME AS IT SHOULD BE.
6. STOP THE THINKING OF ANY FUTURE GOVERNEMNT THAT TO WIN, YOU JUST GIVE AWAY EVERYTHING AT OUR EXPENSE. Btw IF THEY WIN, THEY WILL INCREASES TAXES TO RECOUP THOSE FUNDS.
7. THE ALFA NARGO SCANDAL WILL BE LESS OF A BURDEN AROUND OUR NECKS BUT NOT GASTON, AS IT SHOULD BE.
8. IT WILL BE WONDERFUL TO SEE ALL THOSE WHO JUMP THE UPP SHIP START SCAMPERING HITHER, THITHER AND YON.
9. THEY ARE JUST WAITING TO INCREASE THE PRICE OF GAS.
10. WE WILL FINALLY GET RID OF THIS “CHECK YOU MINISTER” CURSE AND THE SYSTEMS OF GOVERNANCE WILL BE RESTORED.
FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR CHILDREN AND CHILDREN’S CHILDREN, STOP THEM!
When people are stupid they just cannot help themselves. Parliament has been DISSOLVED which means there is no need for Smith to be an independent. He can declare his color now. And that is what he is doing. He is no longer a parliamentarian. He is still a minister in the cabinet of Gaston Browne. Until the day the elections are called. Because he will then officially register and run on a Labour Party ticket. When nomination day is called they will have to do so. Dr. P. Benjamin will have to do the same.
