ABEC urged to be vigilant about transfers into SMS

The United Progressive Party (UPP) is urging the Antigua and
Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) to be vigilant about voter
transfers into St. Mary’s South in order to prevent any fraud or
hanky panky taking place in the upcoming by-election.

Pearl Quinn-Williams, caretaker for Rural North, says the Party will
be monitoring this poll very closely.

This is in light of Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s admission that
persons were transferred from St. John’s City West, into other
constituencies, to boost his colleagues’ chances in the January 18
General Election.

Quinn-Williams says that such manipulation will not be allowed to
happen again, since the eyes of the Party will be focused on the
Register for Elections and on ABEC, itself.

The people of St. Mary’s South should be the ones to determine
which candidate they want to represent them, and to select that
person in a fair and transparent manner – rather than live with a
decision that was based on cheating – Quinn-Williams says. (REAL NEWS)

  1. What a dunce thought by Pearl Quinn and her UPP colleagues…… What are the roles of the scrutineers? According to the report of the last general election international observatory team, it was reported that the election was a fair. So is Pearl now saying that these international observers cannot be trusted? These UPP blue flies keep buzzing & making alot of noise for nothing.

  2. If there are any signs of voter transfers into the St Mary’s South by-election by the ABLP government then Gaston Browne has no other option but to resign forthwith.

    ABEC must do their utmost to check that nothing untoward take place.

    This government is already carrying QUESTIONABLE baggage that the citizens of Antigua & Barbuda aren’t happy with.

    Gaston Browne must understand that all we want is total honesty and transparency from this government.

Gaston Browne on his radio station in his own voice.He did say,that he had persons transferred from his Constituency into others to help his candidates.In my opinion that is a fraud.Also ABEC could not be,cannot be and should not be trusted to do an honest work.They are filled with partisan hacks,in my opinion.They would do almost anything to make sure the Labor Party win this seat.Is Lorna Simon coming back, again?

  5. Gaston was clear when he said that he transferred people out of his Constituency to help out other candidates that were struggling. When believe show you who they are believe them!
