ABEC opens voter registration in constituencies

(Press Release)

The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) is pleased to announce that the process of decentralisation has started. Decentralisation refers to the movement of the registration procedure for eligible voters from the
Central Registration Unit (CRU) to a place certified by the Commission within the respective constituencies.

This will minimize the amount of traffic at the CRU as well as increase convenience for members of the public residing in the rural areas who will no longer have to journey to St John’s to register.

The following units are now fully operational:
St John’s Rural South – Nyah Roberts Sports Complex
St John’s Rural East – Chaia’s Building adjacent to the YMCA
St Peter’s – The Parham Primary School

Eligible voters residing in these constituencies are hereby advised to visit those respective sites for registration and to walk with the necessary documentation, for the smooth completion of the registration process.

Registration will take place at these units from Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

For further information, persons may call ABEC’s Headquarters at 562-4191 or 562-4198.
