ABEC Can’t Find Suitable Building For Registration On Barbuda

The Antigua Barbud Electroal Commission says its preparing to hold counil elections on Barbuda due on March.

It said in a news release today that despite several attempts, the Commission is unable to secure a suitable building in Barbuda to facilitate persons who have become qualified and wish to register.

However, the Barbuda Registration Unit has been operating at the Central Registration Unit, located in the former Peace Corps Building on Factory Road, since the passage of Hurricane Irma.

 “Therefore, Barbudans are hereby reminded that registration is ongoing and the deadline for new registrants to register in order to be eligible to vote in the March 2019 Barbuda Council Elections is 31st January, 2019.”

  1. If Barbudans are still living in tents, that should be a good enough structure for ABEC. No? Well then how about a room at the hospital? Or the police station.
    No way should these people have to come to Antigua to register. What a nonsense.

  2. Such a stupid release. Can you imagine ABEC saying they can’t find a suitable building in Barbuda to conduct voter registration but the office on Factory Road is opened in order to facilitate that? Madness gone mad! Eligible voters are being disenfranchised in Barbuda is what it is. Sometimes the madness that comes out as official news is really laughable.
