U.S. rapper A$AP Rocky has been released from police custody after bail was set for him in the amount of US$550,000 Wednesday afternoon.

Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was taken into custody by the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division and booked on suspicion of assault. According to an LA Times article, the Los Angeles police detectives searched a home belonging to the rapper seeking evidence in connection with the case following his arrest.

The article shared that according to law enforcement sources, detectives had the artiste under surveillance for some time and tracked his return from Barbados. A Law enforcement source reportedly said LAPD investigators used a pry bar to force open a gate and a small battering ram to break open a door at Mayers’ home where detectives removed several boxes of evidence.

Mayers, 33, was wanted in connection with a November 6, 2021 shooting after an argument escalated, authorities said.

The rapper is accused of firing a handgun at an acquaintance, who sustained a minor injury and later sought medical treatment, police said.

Police reported that Mayers and two other men ran after the gunfire.

A$AP is scheduled to appear in court on August 17, 2022.
