  1. We’re not going to test those people

We won’t tell whether they are in quarantine because they just got here or because there’s been an outbreak that we’re hiding

    Also not banning UK flights

Won’t test tourists and they don’t have to quarantine either

Nothing to worry about though. Our active cases will always be low (wink wink)

If you die suddenly, don’t worry we’ll tell everyone it’s from natural causes

    Cheers

    • Yada yada yada…same old whining…well I see your analogy. It is like Aids. Maybe you have and you are not part of the official statistics.

  2. There have not been 800 returned nationals in the last week

And we know tourists are never quarantined

We still don’t know how many people the sick special dispensation Venezuelan infected.

So many secrets. Not like we’re in the middle of a worldwide public health crisis where releasing info to the public would help keep us safe. No better to hide cases and info.

    Good going Antigua!

      • Absolutely nothing to worry about.

Yes, thousands of people are dying of this disease every day.

But nothing to worry about here in Antigua. We do things differently here.

COVID cannot spread via thousands of tourists that arrive each month who are not tested or quarantined and who do not like to wear masks around locals in their hotels.

COVID can only spread from bad returning nationals as we all very well know.

Things work a little differently here. So does math and counting things like active cases.

But anyway, nothing at all to worry about. And if you’re worried, then you’re clearly a “covidiot” as the gentleman above proclaims.

What’s the worst that could happen? You and your family are definitely NOT going to die of COVID here in Antigua – at least it will never be recorded as COVID on your death certificate. That should be very reassuring to you.

So don’t worry, be happy. Everything’s fine.

  4. It could be worst 800 or more death like other places let’s adhere to ALL PROTOCOLS to mitigate Covid 19

  5. Well people going into qurantine at this time will spend Xmas and New Year’s Eve in quarentine. Sorry but no family or friends around you.

  6. People are dying of covid right here in MSJC and the authorities are keeping it hush hush. A worker from that institution mentioned it. It’s time for those workers of MSJC to break their silence because we are all at risk.

Covid is spreading like wild fire
Especially in the English harbor area in the yachting sector. Protocols are relaxed there on the roads and especially in the restaurants.

Antiguans please be careful because the leaders of this country only cares about $$$$$.

I do understand that we need to keep our boarders open.
But please……… leaders tell us the truth and nothing but the truth for so many have let their guards down, when you keep fooling the population with the number of cases and deaths in Antigua.

    LORD HELP US!

    • The country could survive a year of closed borders if the suffering was spread around. That means the wealthy people in government stop taking salaries because they don’t need them. Starting with the PM, the wealthy ministers, and all of the wealthy people on pension and/or receiving 2 or 3 paychecks from the treasury.

And then the people lower than that accept serious pay cuts and so on.

Shared suffering for the common good.

That means loans going directly toward cash stimulus of the poorest people on the island and the SMALL business owners.

Growing food and trading with nearby islands for needed commodities.

That means insisting that big businesses that have flourished now pay their share (severance) to the laid off workers.

And then the island would truly be COVID free, which would be a MAJOR attractor for foreigners who are willing to come here and live for months at a time or years. So the borders could be opened to those people who are willing to be tested and quarantined for 2 weeks. And then they can roam freely around the island like the rest of us. Like the people of New Zealand are able to do.

Opening the borders was not to save the poor starving people who are still poor and starving and never got any cash stimulus. Opening the borders immediately and IRRESPONSIBLY was because the government was not willing to let the millionaires and billionaires that own the resorts suffer any pain. Their acquisition of $$$ was and is more important than your lives.

And I have no doubt that many people are sick with COVID here in Antigua and many people have died of it which this government continues to hide.

  7. Unfortunately went out to a few places yesterday.

so many people with masks below their nose and mouths even is a doctors office

Epicurean packed with tourists shopping amongst the rest of us & these people were never quarantined or tested. So some significant percentage of them are surely COVID positive.

One woman having a coughing fit at the doctor’s office, coughing throughout Epicurean, the pharmacist’s assistant coughing.

Be careful everyone, stay home as much as possible and protect yourselves because your government has declined to protect you.

  8. I have a Canadian friend who has a boat at North Sound Marina (Crabs) that is currently under repair and each time he goes and comes back he stays on that boat in quarantine, but walks around in the boatyard freely and goes wherever he wants to while there are people working in the boatyard. He is coming back again and he said he is “using the Government’s loop hole and renting an apartment which will not require him to do the mandatory 14 quarantine. The ministry of health really need to look into this.
