Dr. Albert Duncan, MSJMC Medical Director says there are six COVID-19 patients at the hospital who are severely ill.
Speaking on state media Friday evening, Duncan said some 40 people are currently hospitalized in Antigua with the disease.
“Just to give you an idea what we’re facing at the hospital, we currently have 40 people hospitalized of which seven people with mild disease are in the IDC.
“We have six people in the ICU that are severely ill on ventilator. We have one patient in our step-down ICU or alternate ICU, which is at a different location, who is also severely ill.
“On our COVID ward, where the disease is moderate, we have 26 patients housed there.
“We have also moved 12 patients to the navy base, who are really asymptomatic now, just awaiting negative PCR tests before they can be discharged.”

The Politicians did say yesterday. The Covid-19 cases are manageable. Reading this article tells a totally different story. The system is bursting at its seams of Covid-19 patients.Now the old Navy Base is being used to housed Covid patients.I pray for my Country and its people to stay safe and secured.You know the Protocols,follow them.
They clearly do not work.
Letting in tourists from high disease areas without testing and quarantining them is a disastrous policy.
Telling people with symptoms they probably have dengue or a cold or the flu instead of testing them is a disastrous policy.
Repeatedly telling the country that we’re COVID free and there is NO COMMUNITY SPREAD when there clearly has been high community spread and lots of hidden COVID for months and months – another disastrous policy.
The protocols are stupid and they do not work.
Half-ass measures do not work. Wide open borders do not work.
Will someone with some power and integrity stand up for Antigua?
