A 65-year-old man, Winston Tittle, was sentenced to four years in prison for brutally attacking his common-law partner with a hammer on two separate occasions.
The incidents stemmed from a dispute over a sheet, with Tittle demanding she leave the house. Despite the victim asserting her financial contribution to the residence, Tittle violently assaulted her with a hammer.
His extensive history of similar offenses since 1981 raised concerns during the sentencing process, though his age and health conditions, including frailty and a previous stroke, were also taken into account.
The court, presided over by Justice Tunde Bakre, ultimately imposed a four-year prison term for unlawful wounding.
