The COVID-19 vaccine rollout has continued in full force as fifty-five (55) front-line workers in Barbuda received their first dose of the AstraZeneca Vaccine today.
These 55 newly vaccinated persons included nurses, firefighters, police officers, health workers, red cross, and council members, including Member of Parliament, Trevor Walker, teachers, and persons with Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD’s).
According to Nurse Jenita Cuffy, who aided in the vaccination today, “The process went incident-free. Persons who came were excited to be vaccinated. Then others now learning about it are calling to find out if they can get theirs.”
Lafratus Desouza, in Barbuda, was trained in the software which is being used to register persons receiving the vaccine. Two laptops were donated to ensure the process of registration was completed.
Nurse Cuffy indicated that vaccination in Barbuda is expected to continue according to the scheduling by the Ministry of Health, Wellness, and the Environment.
“We say thanks for the support we had from the Barbuda Council, Ministry of Health, Wellness and The Environment, and the IT department and Mount St. John’s Medical Centre.” Nurse Cuffy said.
Online Preregistration, for all Antiguans and Barbudans, is also expected to launch tomorrow.
