    • They did this by opening island too soon and putting zero restrictions on tourists who freely brought the disease to our shores

  1. And the comments about the extensive spread on the island

That should have been a warning to fix the situation but they were so greedy they wanted to have a booming holiday season with tens of thousands of diseased tourists coming here

  2. Don’t believe that one!!!!
Definitely too good to be true.
If it was from CARPHA then it would have been somewhat believable. SMH

    • Agree with you, testing results from CARPHA seem accurate. The MSJMC cannot be testing properly. Unreliable results.

  3. Closing the borders makes no damn sense. So what we close for a month cause more hardships then what open back up again and get the same reaults! What makes senss is to test and quarantine everybody. Tourist and returning nationals alike!

    • For one month

Reopen after a month and then test and quarantine everybody

Right now all resources should be directed to ending this outbreak not to dealing with new disease sources at the border

Close the border, close the schools, lockdown 1 month, prophylaxis for the population, treat the sick

And get the situation under control

    • If the government doesn’t act boldly and immediately to end this outbreak

This disease spreads exponentially. One day there may be 50 cases, in a week there could be 5000 if there aren’t serious measures taken right now

  4. You proberly work for the government and don’t understand how a lock down works. It is going to be a catastrophic disasters on the economy. A lockdown will lead to more unemployment in both the private and public sectors. Covid is a gobal pandamic and is not leaving so best we stay open and test and qurantine everyone TOURIST and returning nationals alike. And WE the people must learn to follow the protocals.

    • And it will be a catastrophe if the government keeps letting diseased people in at this point.

Also, at this point, they do not have the resources to deal with the outbreak crisis in the country and at the same time revamp the rules at the border.

The only way is to close the borders for a month or so just like New Zealand did. And then throw every resource at eliminating the virus from the island, treating the sick, and prophylaxing everyone else.

What you and people like you fail to realize that if you do not control the deadly disease, you’re going to have economic collapse anyway.

If the country cannot afford to close for 1 month and take care of its people, you don’t really have a country.

Then Antigua should just start a GOFUNDME because the situation is dire and pathetic where a country cannot care for its own people for 1 month without collapse.

      • The thing is wise ass we don’t have the resources New Zealand has. We are a tourist dependant country. Not even agriculture can generate the revenue at this moment. Lockdown down is not the answer. The world tried that in 2020 and how far did it get anyone. As I said we lock for a month and stop the speard then what open back up the the same thing. Like it or no the US and UK are our main source market and closing them off we might as well strave. The virus is going to be around for at lease another 2 years so best we learn to live with it not make life anymore diffcult than it is.
