5 people homeless after fire in Ottos, New Town

(REAL News) — A fire in Ottos, New Town, on Sunday, April 9, destroyed two buildings, leaving five people without a home.

According to the Fire Brigade, the St. John’s Fire Station received a call at 12:56 p.m. that day and, upon arrival on the scene, found the two structures engulfed in flames.

Despite their efforts to extinguish the fire, using the No. 10 and No. 15 tenders, both buildings were destroyed.

The first house, a 50 x 18-foot structure, was occupied by three individuals, who are said to have lost all their belongings, including important documents.

Meanwhile, the two individuals who occupied the other building, a 20 x 18-foot structure, also lost their possessions.

The fire brigade is investigating the origin of the fire.
