40 new cases of COVID-19 in Barbados

Forty people, 20 males and 20 females, were diagnosed with COVID-19 on Saturday, July 10, out of the 908 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The number of persons in isolation is 60.

Since March 2020, confirmed COVID-19 cases have reached 4,176 (2,020 females and 2,156 males).  There have been 48 deaths from the virus.

The public health laboratory has carried out 194,306 tests since February last year.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, 96,175 first doses of the vaccine have been administered.  Additionally, 72,536 people – 29,809 males and 42,727 females – have received second doses, which represent 26.8 per cent of the population.

  1. Seemingly this spike from a large church gathering. Barbados back on curfew & restrictions.

    BVI at over 480 cases last week, from almost zero, coincided with first cruise ship call 7-10 days prior. They are back on curfew _ & bars, entertainment, gyms, spas, hair salons etc. closed again. No income for thousands of people. Restricted movement.

    Covid-19 is still a global pandemic, with virulent variants.
    It is coming back strong to A&B, just a question of when.

    Mask, sanitize, distance
    & consider vaccination – majority of current big country, & islands, hospitalizations are unvaccinated people.
    Imagine your pocket if your workplace has to close for a period because you or one of your co-workers tests positive.
