3,400 Air Conditioning Units for Distribution to Schools, Government Institutions, and Vulnerable Homes

6

CABINET NOTES: The Cabinet confirmed that 3,400 air conditioning units are currently in Antigua in storage, secured by the Department of the Environment (DoE) through a global fund established by the advocacy of the Alliance of Small Island Sates (AOSIS).

The Cabinet and the Environment Division have agreed that schools, government institutions, homes for the elderly, clinics, hospitals, vulnerable families and low income homes will be provided with these air conditioning units.

The object is to ensure that as desert-like conditions heat-up the atmosphere in the warm months, those who can barely afford to provide for themselves can turn to acquiring an AC unit that would increase comfort.

  1. Vulnerable homes you say?? Aaaaaaw!. People that have money that getting those things. Friend and company as usual that will capitalize on these air conditiones. So please stop giving us homes cause people like me will not get this.

  2. Vulnerable people will get them just like the vulnerable people who get government vouchers…yaaaahhh..👏🏾👏🏾🙄

  3. Like the vulnerable people who did not get the SIRF Fund loans? Ok. I hope for accountability and transparency a list of who gets these units is published, void of the Director’s family members, housekeeper, Permanent Secretary, friends and cronies. Btw, we are still waiting for the financial statements for the SIRF Fund DOE. This is yet another initiative to show how grimey the system is, watch and hear new allegations….the AC Con (I called it first).
