The Chief Medical Officer was invited to attend the Cabinet meeting in order to solicit her advice on certain decisions which the Cabinet broached.

The CMO noted that there has been a 30 per cent decline in COVID infections, moving Antigua and Barbuda to an average of three infections daily.

The CMO cautioned that a single super-spreader event can return Antigua and Barbuda to a high rate of infection.

More people ought to be vaccinated in order to achieve herd immunity, the Medical Doctor advised.

If the number falling ill and requiring hospitalization returns to abnormally high levels, restrictions which now apply will have to be re-introduced.

  1. How many are currently hospitalized?

    How many have really died?

  2. Good news as a stand alone statistic.
What have arrival figures been in the period CMO stated the recorded 30% decrease, compared to previous period?
I ask because UK made vacation travel illegal on 29 March, ( it was limited for month before due to tier system & having ‘valid reason for travel) & tentative resumption date is May 17.

Canada stopped International travel on 29 January, with WestJet showing a tentative 20 June return to Antigua.

Therefore the 30% drop in infections might be a combination of 2 source market closures and 27,000 people here being vaccinated.
