This is only a small fraction of the true number of covid cases in Antigua. Most people who come down with covid are testing themselves with home test kits and once they test positive, are not telling the government for fear of being quarantined forever. Government never come back to do the second PCR test after 14 days quarantine and people waste away in quarantine until whenever the government eventually arrives to do the second test, often weeks later. Not good enough!
The new trend is to follow the hospitalize number and not the infection rate. As long as our healthcare service can handle it, we will consider it like a cold or flu.
FROM THE SIDELINE you are back with your nonsense. Is not the infection rate an absolutely important factor? The infection rate is again increasing rather steadily, however, because the number of people hospitalized at present is low there is no need for concern according to your logic. When the infection rate begin to rise exponentially what will be your position. I hope that the omicron variant of the virus does not penetrate our porous borders since the RO of that variant is 10 i.e., every infected person will affect 10 people. FROM THE SIDELINE I believe you need to go back on your vacation from ANR.

Meanwhile, nearly 1.7 million people worldwide were diagnosed with Covid yesterday, the worst day of the entire pandemic. But it’s just the flu, right? Tell that to the 100 million people worldwide who currently suffer from Long Covid that just won’t go away. Or to local victim number 119 who didn’t even make it long enough to be part of the hospitalized statistics before succumbing. Once omicron actually takes off here, there isn’t going to be enough of the health care system left to handle anything. The virus doesn’t need to put people in hospital to lock down a country.
Health Officials in Antigua and Barbuda.Could you please tell us if the Omicron Variant is in Antigua?
Worry not about tomorrow, do what you can to protect your self. Don’t bring fear and speak negative what will happen when omicron hits our shores, we don’t know the future
Omicron was already circulating in europe before detected in south Africa. Omicron is already here, but it is a God sent if we focus our discussions on natural immunity towards herd immunity and not only on vaccines. That is the key to reaching herd immunity not with these vaccines.
I observed that the deaths went up by 2,from 117 to 119.When did those two deaths happen?
