Jacquan Francis, an 18-year-old secondary school student, has been fined $1000 for stabbing a 17-year-old schoolmate in the back during a heated argument over a mutual crush on a girl.

The incident occurred on December 3, 2020, and left the victim hospitalized for 72 hours.

Appearing before Justice Colin Williams, Francis pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding.

His lawyer explained that Francis allowed his anger to control him despite winning the girl’s favor.

The accused apologized to the court and was sentenced to pay the fine by the end of the month.
