13 new cases of COVID-19

(Dashboard Update for August 28, 2021)

The most recent report received by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment from the Sir Lester Bird Mount St. John Medical Centre has revealed thirteen (13) new laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda as of Thursday 26th August 2021 at 6pm.

One hundred and thirteen (113) samples were processed at Sir Lester Bird MSJMC.

The Epidemiology Unit will provide a comprehensive report on the imported and non-imported cases.

Consequently, the total number of persons with laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda is one thousand six hundred and fifty-one (1651); which is inclusive of two hundred and seventy (270) active cases. There are twenty (20) hospitalized cases; sixteen (16) mild, one (1) moderate and three (3) severe.

Meanwhile, Antigua and Barbuda has fully vaccinated thirty three thousand three hundred and ninety-one (33,391) individuals while six thousand nine hundred and eighteen (6,918) have only received their first dose.

The dashboard has been updated to reflect these changes.

  1. Ok, so looking at the dashboard 270 cases, only 20 are hospitalized, 1,338 recovered cases and 43 deaths. We were given a breakdown of how many persons infected are with and without the vaccine. It was said that both vaccinated and unvaccinated persons have contracted the virus with more unvaccinated persons having it. Now it shows that the vaccine dose not stop you from getting covid. If the recovered cases are that high compare to death its clearly showing that more unvaccinated persons are recovering from the virus if most affected are unvaccinated.

    Why was there never given a breakdown of the death total as to how many of them had the vaccine or not. I you look closely at the dashboard they are only giving you three tips to protect yourself and the vaccine is surely not one of them.
