A fleet of 10 new trucks is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of waste collection in Antigua & Barbuda. Michael Joseph, Chairman of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), shared that some of the vehicles will be arriving this month, with the remainder scheduled for January 2025. This move is part of a larger initiative to address the delays caused by operational and asset management challenges.

Long overdue as well; and whilst you are investing in new garbage trucks, you should also purchase some new uniforms for your hardworking staff.
Glad they are trying to get all the equipment they need to be effective and improve operations.
Ok but Pringle still have the DEAD DARG contract??? What is up with him and some kinda “black Hadeed”???
Nice job HON. MICHAEL JOSEPH 👏 👏 👏 MP For Rural West. The man to beat Richard “SPINELESS” Lewis. I’m sure Gisele Isaac-Arrindell will gladly support you. She already knows that Richard don’t belong in upp with a JAMAICAN WIFE to let in more “foreigners”
2. The Chairman made it clear that she wants Richard Lewis out of the party.
3. She revealed that a recent poll showed Richard Lewis trailing Michael Joseph in the St. John’s Rural West constituency.
4. The Chairman expressed her lack of trust in Richard Lewis, stating that he can no longer win his seat and should step aside.

Can I buy one privately
The problem is not the truck…..you need to pay the workers

Just incase you didn’t know, the collection of garbage is mainly outsourced to private contractors. Therefore their uniform is their own expense. But one thing I am not in agreement with is this new policy of purchasing your own trucks. What will then happen to the private contractors and their employees. I understand that their was always a problem with them. Overcharging the government and not collecting in every street. And also using very old trucks that constantly broke down. Empowering people should be at the fore front. What should have been done is greater inspection of the type of vehicles they use and the conditions of these vehicles. Next someone needs to go and follow up on every route investigating from the residence what they think of the garbage collection. My complain with them is that they always manhandle my bin. And I have to replace bins at least once a year. They never put it back in the place they took it. They just dump it in the street. With the cover all over the place. And even after all that, every xmas I make sure they have their xmas presents, three bottles of wine and cash money. Supervision of their work if what was lacking and strict rules as to their performance. And they should be financially able to carry a payroll of at least three months. Because given the government’s bureaucracy in making payments, they will always get paid late, but that should not effect the workers.
Another things is the maintenance of government assets. Government is known not to pay much attention to their assets and staff have a don’t care attitude with handling government equipment. Perhaps they think that when its broken down they will not have work to do. A private contractor will take care of their own trucks as they know that can cause them their contract.
So Brix as you can see I do not support the government in everything. But then again you will forget and deny that.
