Just so? We need to investigate. Died in his sleep? Or something else? Besides are we serious? In prison for stealing a cellphone? Come on!
RIP Chinless
Same thing me say just a cell phone come better man ppl others here a steal money from government and so on …..tarl this no look nar sound good
This is truly heartbreaking news. Regardless of a person’s past actions, everyone deserves humane treatment and care while in custody. I hope this prompts an investigation into the conditions at the prison.
prisons aren’t meant to be comfortable. If better care is needed, the family or community should have stepped in earlier. Personal responsibility matters too.
This tragedy highlights the urgent need for reform in prison systems, especially when it comes to healthcare and young offenders. No one should die in a place designed for rehabilitation.
we have to ask why the individual was in prison in the first place. The choices we make have consequences, and this might be one of them
This death raises serious concerns about the prison’s management. Were proper protocols followed? If not, there should be accountability for negligence.
In Prison for stealing a cellphone. While Politicians can steal, thief at will without any consequences.I am not condoning what he did. However, the laws must be and should be applied to all equally.
His Soul can now rest in peace.
@Island girl-yes put their thieving asses in jail for a cellphone. A cellphone is worth over a $1000.00. This is two week’s paycheck for some workers. In addition cellphones carry personal information like bank accounts etc. It’s not just “a cellphone.”
He is already a criminal and was sent where criminals belong.
Antigua & Barbuda must get even more serious on these petty crimes because they lead to other bigger crimes. We are trying to avoid the same State of Emergency’s in Trinidad and Jamaica here in Antigua.
@Island girl – According to what is written in the article, He was put in prison because his travel document was not available to be surrendered, which is usually a condition for bail to be granted. Additionally, they have not determined the cause of his death as yet. The investigation is ongoing. To others, I’m not sure where you get the idea that prison is a safe place. There are multiple persons in the cells. Yes this is tragic but let’s not jump to blaming the guards.
Deepest cnodolences to his family…especially his marda
Probably an Antiguan that killed him..
How about the possibility he died due to the 💉— like many other victims in Antigua, my opinion. Until they start doing the type of autopsies required to prove otherwise, the 💉is a very high probability — especially in the young & healthy. And, as long as the health authorities keeps ignoring this inconvenient possibility, nothing will be done to prevent others from suffering the same fate. Every Antiguan should want to know why all the excess & sudden deaths are occuring — because, school children were also injected.
@They don’t like Jamaican people: by your logic, Jamaicans don’t like Jamaican people either, because they kill each other all the time. Why are you assuming he was killed? And, if Jamaicans believe Antiguans would kill them just because they dislike them, why don’t they stay their asses in Jamaica — are they stupid; or do they have a death wish?
#bereavement’s with love_N_light.
@They don’t like Jamaican people…
Having lived amongst Jamaicans for the past fifty-five years! Having been mistakenly identified, as a Jamaican for the past forty-eight years, to having grandchildren who are of Antiguan and Jamaican parents, plain and simple, the ignorance which is being portrayed by you, as in, “They don’t like Jamaican people,” is not because of the “They” in your moniker, it’s because of the negative behaviors of the “Jamaican people,” in again your moniker.
As HUEman beings, our behaviour(s) are molded in many ways, by the environment which they are immersed into; similar to plants and their environment.
What I’ve observed, amongst the Jamaican Culture in Foreign lands, there is more cohesiveness’s versus in Jamaica itself. One can argue, that those seeds of discontent and discord planted over time by politicians have some responsibility, in creating a Jamaican Culture in Jamaica and once you’re immersed in it, you become a part of it. Violence is one such example from Manley days.
Ironically, the Jamaican culture outside of Jamaica for the most part, except for those POSSEE from the 1980’s to a dwindling now, the Jamaican people and culture- reggae, rasta_pasta, dance, education, community advocacy, setting trends, food etc. No one dislikes Jamaicans for non, no not one of those set of positive vibes, I just dropped on you.
In the early 1970’s, as the Pan African Culture was bursting forth in the Caribbean, I can recall sitting in Carnival Bowl, on the Saturday Night, one of only ten or so people in the audience to listen to Third World – 96 Degreeess in the shade! Real hot…
Antiguans were listening to reggae, but weren’t really supporting it, as in going to shows. Anyway, they THIRD WORLD gave a FREE CONCERT, at Ovals Park in Ovals on the Sunday afternoon…
The rest is history! Every show which THIRD WORLD performed on as a promotion in Antigua, SOLD OUT for years to come…
…bar sell aff!
…Show lack aff!
… Irie vibes!
…people de chat and a laff!
…gunshot, nar bark!
…unnuh, nar get rob!
…by, nun teefing lad!
…wen, U ah walk and ah talk!
Beenie Man Vibes…He knows the value, of the Antiguan dollar and crowd support, since, CHERYL “de Jeanerie_Gajo – Cheree” THOMPSON gave him the opportunity.
Gregory Isaac’s Crew came through for years, decades; yet, ANTIGUA never experienced this level, of what is apparent in some situations, FREQUENT Criminal behavior from the present crop of IMMIGRANTS, and not just JAMAICANS who are now coming to our shores.
Yes, ANTIGUANS are criminals too! So too are others from other Nationalities and cultures. Personally, I don’t give a (full in this blank with the worst cuss word, expletive you know)————————————————
It’s time for law enforcement to do work to help our MAGA – Make Antigua Greater Again. Punish all criminals when caught and the evidence(s) are there to prove them guilty!

Jamaica is producing more criminals than Grace Ackee for export. We don’t want your criminals running around our Nation like mongoose, stop trying to squeeze them out of Jamaica.
The young guy died at the prison. His cause of death is unknown. Why are these none sense Comments. You all running you all mouth without knowing what happened. Do we know about his health condition before he was remanded? No. Once you are a none national in any country and you violate the country Laws and get arrested, you will be charged and taken before the court. If the court agreed to grant you bail, part of your bail conditions is to surrender all your travel documents because you become a flight risk. So in the meantime, you will be remanded until your family find your travel documents. People in this country must stop encourage and support crime. A person phone is their property and have value. He could have injured the person while stealing the phone. A phone cost a lot of money. Allow the investigation to take it course before you all support criminal elements to trying to take Antgua hostage. Stop it
This hit hard that i have a million words to say. people are walking out here after crimes that hit hard! Like a police officer who got a young girl pregnant, paid the mother and still has his job and everything. but here it is that a Jamaican National is in prison for a phone thats only worth a couple hundred bucks. then neverless, the thorough investigation needed won’t matter when all they will do is lie just to cover up the craziness that goes in behind those red gates. Yeah you can be running yasco ten times in 30mins and look fine, finish and still look fine, then you die in your sleep. but this is different, furthermore his passport was lost and all of that, what did they do to this young man? is it because he’s Jamaican cause ii heard yall don’t like them. AntiguaNewsRoom, don’t do us this, fill us in on the information they are hiding. WHAT DID THEY DO TO THIS YOUNG MAN?
Some racist Antiguan prisoner must have killed him? We all know antiguans don’t like Jamaican people.
After Antiguans have open their arms wide and allow so much Jamaicans and other nationalities into their country, you are claiming that the native Antiguans don’t love Jamaicans. Check all the other Caribbean islands and tell me which islands that welcome Jamaican nationals to their borders to live and work. Antigua has the highest Jamaicans national that are in high government jobs over qualified natives Antiguans. Before saying that Antiguans doesn’t love Jamaicans recheck your facts and do a proper research. Antiguans are loving people not murderers.
Thank you Donna.
Why you guys as a Jamaican saying this unu ever go to auntiga yet before unu talk auntiga do love Jamaican is only thing that Jamaicans carry them style goes everywhere not everyone does it okso unu stop it please
Whoever you are, you’re wrong for this, retract your statement. Also I am disappointed in you and the administrator(s) to allow this to pass. ANTIGUANS are not murderers but it’s obvious where your from. Many Antiguan brothers and sisters see Jamaicans as family, yes all may not share the same views and care for the Jamaican culture but there are more good than bad. However at the end of the day SOME Jamaicans do leave a bad taste and numbers don’t lie. I myself has fallen victim of incidents involving Jamaicans and still I stand with many of you as friends. It is known, many not all only flock here as an escape to get the passport to then further go to larger territories. There are many more that can be said but just Google it. How Jamaicans are famous for scamming, drugs and the same killing of their own brothers, the number of murders daily ?? (which Antigua doesn’t have). Some of these killings that you hear of are not even Antiguans doing. How many Jamaicans I hear say they don’t like and worst HATE Antiguans, yet they built a life here which is 10 x better than where they were.Pls Stop it. I don’t know what really happen and it’s not right if he was done wrong and genuinely send my Condolences to the family. But we need to stop with the Caribbean fight against each other and Unite. WE need to stand strong together and see that it is the larger countries who are the ones fighting to keep Islanders out of their borders. ANTIGUANS are Not MURDERERS.
It has been brought to my greatest concerns. Why are Jamaicans living in Antigua just dropping like flies lately? Since the year 2025 begun they just finding Jamaicans dead like everyday. From sidewalks, to cars, prison, to who knows where next. I can’t even blame the commenters for saying that Antiguans are murderers. Cause what is happening to these Jamaicans living on Antigua soils?
Wowww this is indeed sad. Lord cover us with your blood. Here today gone tomorrow
The cleansing.
Theres no conspiracy going on here…..When its your time its your time
This is sad all around!! To here another youth die whether in or out if custody.
The Jamaican inner city mind set these days, is “somebody haffe go dead back”.. lets hope that’s not the case!!!
@Cheyanne, dem tek de f-n vaccines. Antiguans dying pan de road too. Na baddy do nottin to de bwoy. Unu na want fu believe de vaccine a kill ppl. It ah kill people in a Jamaica too. Go wey unu bomboclart bout Antiguan kill de bwoy. And tell unu people dem fu tap commit crime inna other people country. All ah unu need fu move unu rassclart back ah Jungle and Rema.
Set of ungrateful bastards! I said what I said & I don’t give a rats ass. Who bex can go ded!
@Antgus surf, I’m quite sure you’re aware that the vaccines can cause myocarditis and or pericarditis. 1 is inflammation of the heart tissue — the other is inflammation of the sac around the heart. There is also subclinical myocarditis — this is inflammation of the heart tissue WITHOUT any symptoms– in such cases, dying suddenly is highly likely and often times, the deaths occurs during sleep — this is due to a surge of adrenaline that happens during sleep between the hours of 3-6 am — if there is scarring of the heart from the inflammation, the normal electrical activity within the heart can become abnormal, causing and irregular heartbeat (aka arrhythmia) this happens quickly, and death is normally what follows. Often times, people that are saved when this occurs are the ones who receives a shock to the heart (with a defibrillator) within a few minutes of collapsing.
Parents are finding their children dead in their beds when they go into their rooms. One family lost both of their sons this way — they both got the Pfizer vaccines. I’m willing to bet this is the case with this young fella — however, the type of autopsies needed to prove this as the cause aren’t being done. And, imo, Antiguans have moved on and away from thinking the vaccines are causing harms. But the honest scientist said this was going to happen with 3-5 years of taking the jab — some day 10 years. Until proven otherwise, it’s the vaccines for me. Btw, the coroners cannot find what they’re not looking for.
