A community is grieving the loss of 17-year-old Vonde Bowers, whose life was cut short in a fatal stabbing earlier this week.

In tribute, mourners have placed a wreath and a cricket bat at the location where his body was discovered.

Bowers, a student at Ottos Comprehensive School, aspired to become a professional cricketer.

A teenager has since been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

  1. Everytime i read about this young promising son, whose life was cut short due to Teen violence, it Hurts my Heart. My condolences to His family and Friends.RIP Young soldier, May the Angels of heaven Welcome you home.😦😦😦

  2. I know that all crimes are not preventable, however at the rate we are going we are heading to join our neighbors. The saying goes that when your neighbor house is on fire wet yours.
The lawlessness of our politicians supports the rise in crimes. The Caribbean politicians are too much into self-enrichment and not about national development.
For a few votes our government passed the marijuana decriminalization bill. Honestly speaking I supported 100%. However, they went further and allowed everyone to have at their home 4 plants and on top of that gave out licenses without the necessary check and balances. So right now you can drive to any of the Rasta communities and buy marijuana. You can buy enough to sell over as well. This is one of the reasons to me for the rising youth delinquency.
This crime situation is spreading and will have negative impact on our economy , especially the tourism sector.
We need to address and arrest this situation immediately otherwise we will be living in hell soon, with the monsters we are creating.
The moral fabric of our society has gone to an all time low. It is displayed right before our eyes especially by our young women. These are not women of ill repute but also educated women such as- Teachers , lawyers, nurses, mothers , grandmothers all nude “cocking” up their naked asses in the streets of St. John’s.
So didn’t we have clear fun when we were young, with clothes on our bodies. Today I heard of men pushing up their fingers instead of young women at fetes. I even heard women talking about when they get drunk at these fetes they get sex-off. They did not refer to it as rape, although the women don’t even know the guys that did it to them.
So who is responsible for putting an end to this behavior.
So people of Antigua, we need to do better. We need to arise from this dump we find ourselves and do much better.
What type of Antigua are we leaving for our children and grandchildren. Those that do not participate but look on in laughter is equally as guilty.
