Wounded Officer Trevon Giddings Appeals for Public Help After Losing Leg in Line-of-Duty Shooting
Police officer Trevon Giddings is appealing to the public for assistance as he works to rebuild his life after being critically injured while on duty last year.
Giddings was shot three times on May 25, 2025, while responding to a report of masked men in the Potters area. Two of the shots struck his leg, and despite medical intervention, his right leg was later amputated.
Since the incident, Giddings has been adjusting to life with a prosthetic and ongoing rehabilitation. He shared his appeal in a post on Facebook, writing: “I survived something that changed my life forever. Now I’m rebuilding, step by step with my head held high.”
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help cover the estimated US$200,000 cost of a prosthetic leg, reconstructive surgery and physical therapy. Just over US$10,000 has been raised so far.

You were injured in line of duty, your entire recovery should be paid for by the government. Wish you well though. Stay strong!
Abena I agree the Police Force supposed to sort out the man…but then again he did put his life on the line for the public… Hmmm we can help…
Imagine this is the country we live in where Gaston brown boast about what a wonderful job he’s doing so much so that he could take off the self respect and higher office hat to go on stage to campaign and celebrate himself as usual… meanwhile the infrastructure is really bad .. police officers risk their lives everyday on the job and when one get injured they still have to make a plea to get help, “SERIOUSLY “.. I pray for you Trevon, you will get through this, just like I saw the strength you displayed in the video after you were shot …
It is sad that those who work tirelessly to serve and protect us are made to suffer when they get hurt in the line of duty. All this officers medical bills should be bourne by the police and by extension the government. This chilling incident should send a dire message to other officers . When you are up and able bodied, we are good. When you are hurt and disabled in the line of duty, you are on your own. Sad! The police welfare association must take the lead in ensuring that this officer bills are taken care of and he is not left out on a limb and begging for help.
Mr. Vegas got paid. GASSY DREAD got paid. Carleton definitely got paid and so too were the other foreign artists who do not contribute nothing to the Nation outside of low grade entertainment but this office injured in the line of duty has to come to the public and set up a Go Fund Me page, to make his ends meet.
In Obsti’ obstinate voice, “NUTTEN TARL CYAN GO SO.”
So sorry to see this. Was the officer working in the line of duty or was he working in a private capacity at the time of the incident? If it the latter, I would think that’s why the Police Welfare or the Government might not be forthcoming with much needed help to him at this time. If he was indeed in d line of duty, some help should be coming from his Employer. In addition, doesn’t the Police Force has insurance for their officers. I would believe this is mandatory because of the work that they do. It’s a big risk on their lives n would definitely warrant this service for all officers.
The article did say.He was hurt in line of duty. He should be fully covered by the Government for all of his medicals. No bull chit.
Let me know how I can help and contact me directly. It is so ashamed that an officer while on duty was injured and must be in a newspaper begging for insurance coverage from private citizens, when his job should have already included such insurance coverage, at least up to $1,000,000.00ec.
Where are the Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police, the ABLP Minister of National Security and ABLP Attorney General Steadroy Cutie Benjamin, ABLP Prime Minister Gaston Browne, the police service commission.
There is a big number I want to donate but only if these people donate the exact same amount or more and from their personal assets, including the idiot who loves to blog on here for ABLP. Show us you really care for people by giving of yourself and not just blog for ABLP because you got a job, money and big favors from them. Literally no post by that blogger was about what is important for the country but what is important to keep ABLP in power.
Sadly, the people can’t see what I see, the facts. Hopefully this will make you see a bit.
This officer should be taken care of by the government. This is a disgrace. Monies spend on the One Nation concert could have help this police officer. But you see, they are looking for political promotion to stay in power ,rather than to be humanitarians. Stay strong Mr. Giddiness.
For those considering joining the Royal Police Force or the Defence force of Antigua and Barbuda: Come near… yes!! .. and pay attention.

U start run you gutter mouth again ?
Pompey you could of just said he was not on duty while shot… Police not responsible while officers off duty which is bullshit because they say a police is always on duty… As a police you have a duty to protect ad serve which is what he was doing…. The police force should still take care of him……
Even if he was working in Private capacity he deserves help from both Government and public. The small pay people get in this place makes it difficult to deal with such situations
Thank you sir for serving your country and us as a people.I am truly saddened by what’s happened to you. No one deserves this. Thank you for the information as to how we can assist. Little is much, when God is in it.
May God continue to grant you healing and strength on this difficult journey.
Wait..MOnth Ago Gaston mentioned that Government of Antigua is going to cover all medical expenses of a Pretty woman that was attacked by pitbulls in their private family house doing private family business? And he posted that the Government of Antigua is going to cover all Medical expenses of that girl? But look aside to this Guys? Hmm
I would be ashame if i was a serving member of the government.cause why the government that you serving dont pay for it ???????? These police are so stupid an delusional asf
… And in the meantime, Prime Minister Gaston Browne is going ahead with litigation in the US in regards to the Alpha Nero super yacht fiasco, which looks as if the taxpayers is going to foot the bill; and this public serving police officer is have to beg for help.
I’d rather some of my taxes went towards helping officer Trevon Giddings, than paying for Browne’s litigious matters.
This ungodly government wicked bad!
We all can help regardless, Government plays apart and so does the people of this Country. It could have any one of us son. If you can help just help.
He has been paying Medical Benefits and Social Security whether he was on or off duty. He should not be asking for that needed help, help should be available to him, regardless. I hope what I read is not factual. Police is Police all the time. I hope the Police Welfare Executive is looking in this situation.
CONFUSED
The third paragraph of this article states that the goodly gentleman ‘has been adjusting to life with a prosthetic and ongoing rehab’. Please clarify: how were the costs for services covered? If he already has a prosthetic leg then what is the suggested US$200,000 supposed to cover? Is he getting another prosthetic leg and what of the insurance coverage that is in place for Police Officers? I trust that the writer of the article can provide some clarity in this regard.
Fix it Gaston! There should not have been a dollar spent on the One Nation Concert while this young man needs help. Mad!
