Work Permits Expire If You Don’t Have A Job- Labour Department

The General Public is asked to take note of the following:

  1. Anyone working in Antigua and Barbuda who requires a work permit MUST first obtain a work permit to work with a specific employer BEFORE taking up employment.

 

  1. Persons with expired work permits MUST cease working immediately upon expiration of the work permit!

 

  1. A work permit ceases to be valid once the employment relationship ends and therefore cannot be used for another employer.

 

  1. ALL vacancies in Antigua and Barbuda MUST be advertised with the One Stop Employment Centre of the Labour Department, in addition to any other outlet usually utilized.

 

  1. ALL new work permit applications MUST be accompanied by the proper proof of advertisement, copies of applications received in response to job advertisement and a proper justification for application for work permit.

 

  1. All employers are advised that work permits will ONLY be renewed for skills not readily available on island. That is to say that three 3 months before the expiration of a work permit, the vacancy MUST be advertised!

 

Proof of advertisement and applications received MUST accompany renewal applications.

The government in Antigua and Barbuda have to put measures in place to protect employment for its people. Jamaica, Guyana, etc… government do the same to. So shut up or go back a yard.

    • All who disobey the rules, not matter what country they in, need to be kicked out and sent home. Just follow the rules, obey the law, and you’ll have no problem. It’s the bad butts who don’t belong and make it bad for everybody else. I am not a citizen of this country, but I respect it and its laws.

    Depends on someone postion or job he/she does as a forignier the work permit fee maybe 1500 or more imagne 100 individual got pay 1500 just for permit that’s 150000 into the treasury bear in mind there lot more people paying such and more that same money go into the treasury to pay you lazy antiguans so all the best with this watch the economy fall.

  12. @Kristi. Please don’t claim to be a foreigner. When you do that, you are embarrassing other foreigners who are educated, right thinking and hardworking. I am a proud black foreigner, who have the ability to live and work anywhere. Whilst the black fools fight down their brothers and sisters, the Syrians and Chinese are taking over their country and making them fourth class citizens. Yardie, I love you, but don’t further insult foreignes by claiming that one actually slept with HER. We have better taste, even among ourselves. By the way, you know that she’s no foreigner right?

Leaving a big country and migrated to a small island for employment says that you’re no different from the rest. You don’t notice when Antiguans and Barbudans leave they head to bigger and more developed country. Antiguans and Barbudans are smarter than you.
